General Settings
The following screenshots show the picture settings from our calibration of the Sony X900C that we reviewed. These settings should be good for TV shows, movies as well as sports. For gaming though, switch the picture mode to 'Game' and copy the rest.
We calibrate for a dark room, so you will probably find our settings too dark. If this is the case, feel free to increase 'Brightness' as much as you want. It won't mess up the calibration of this TV, because it is the equivalent of 'Backlight' on other TVs.
A sharpness of 50 on this TV actually means zero sharpness added. If your reduce it, it will slightly blur the picture. 'Digital noise reduction' is useful if you watch low quality content like DVDs or SD channels.
Set 'Motionflow' to 'True Cinema' if you want to remove judder in movies without the soap opera effect. 'Smooth' will add the soap opera effect.
Change 'Color space' if you want to increase the color gamut. Note that this will produce over-saturated colors when used with normal content.
You can't calibrate the colorspace on this TV. We did a 10 pt. white balance calibration. All of these values are active at the same time. You can copy them if you want, but correct settings vary a little bit by unit, even between between units that are the same model/size.
White Balance Settings
The following are the results of the white balance and colorspace calibration on our unit. They are provided for reference, and should not be copied as the calibration values vary per individual unit even for the same model and same size as the TV we reviewed due to manufacturing tolerances. If you want to try them you will need to enter all values shown, as all of them are active at the same time. If you end up with worse picture quality, simply reset them to the default values.
