The Black+Decker 2-Slice Toaster is a budget-friendly toaster with a plastic body. It has a dial with five presets, as well as bagel and frozen settings. Its plastic design makes it lighter than metal toasters, which is nice if you want to store it on a shelf and move it onto the counter when you're ready to use it. Its slots are on the wider side, so it's well-suited for thickly sliced bread.

Our Verdict

N/A Toasting

Black+Decker 2-Slice Toaster is a fantastic option. The presets provide a wide range of doneness and the highest setting chars white sandwich bread, so items that take longer to toast, like denser multi-grain breads, shouldn't need more than one cycle. It toasts bread evenly in both slots and on both sides of the bread. However, it makes darker toast on the second batch compared to the first, so you may have to adjust the dial to avoid burning your toast after a few batches.

Pros
  • Fantastic range.
  • Toasts evenly.
Cons
  • Second batch turns out darker.
  • N/A Toasting

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

This toaster comes in one 'Black' variant; you can see the label for the unit we tested here. It also comes in a 4-slot variant, the BLACK+DECKER 4-Slice Toaster with Extra Wide Slots, which has the same design but may perform differently.

If you encounter another variant, let us know in the forums, and we'll update our review.

Compared To Other Toasters

The Black+Decker 2-Slice Toaster is a budget-friendly toaster. It has a better toasting range than similarly-priced models like the Oster 2-Slice Toaster with Quick-Check Lever and the Hamilton Beach 2 Slice Toaster with Extra-Wide Slots 22217, and items that take longer to toast, like bagels and denser breads, don't need more time. Its slots are also a little wider than those models. The Oster's design makes it easier to grab smaller items out of the slots without burning yourself, though.
