Unfortunately, this is a pretty old model, and we don’t have any plans to buy or test it. Since we can only test so many TVs each year, we usually focus on current models that have the most interest.
Thanks for your response. I understand why you do what you do. As a consumer though one should always be looking at old too as newer / current doesn’t mean the item is better. I will promise to take a look though at what you got to say about budget 2024 OLED offerings.
Are you ever going to review the Skyworth 65" XC9300 4K OLED? It is a bargain tv that has dropped in price recently and likely will be one of those holiday specials people buy. Right now it is $699 at The Brick and may go for less during Black Friday or Boxing Day sales. Hoping you will take a look at this tv.
Hey Sean!
Nice hearing from you again.
If I remember correctly, you we having a hard time finding a printer and managed to get it from Costco, right? I hope that’s still going well! I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t come across this review sooner though, but at least you know now. I believe we actually started testing keyboards sometime last year, but we’re always trying to introduce new product categories. Most recently, we’ve launched cameras and laptops. That said, if you have any questions or concerns, we’re always here to help! :)
Yeah I am the one that was looking for a printer and got a wonderful one thanks to your help. As for you doing more reviews of things well great because you do them so well. In fact I am on Level 1 Techs sharing information about how great you guys are. I came here just to look up something I forgot about. Anyway keep doing what you are doing. Great stuff. : )
So, on our end, we set the gamma setting to what we think achieves the most accurate picture. In this case, it was 2.2. However, it’s importsnt to mention that this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the brightest or sharpest image (but again, most “accurate”). Similar to the rest of our recommended settings, they may not be what everyone prefers and can vary between users. If you like 2.4 stick with 2.4 and if you ever end up in a situation where you no longer like it, simply change it back! I wouldn’t worry about it, especially if you like what you see! 😊
Not sure what I have my tv set to now but all I know is I got the picture perfect because of all you provide. Mentioned your website yet again to two people because it just is so good. It has helped me help so many people. Thanks.
Just to update eh after much deliberation and looking at my budget I went with the U78G as it is a nice upgrade and hits that 600 nit mark I believe so all good. In doing so heck I was able to take care of other things tonight and can stomach what I will pay per month to Amazon Canada over the next many months. $80+ is easier on the wallet. Thanks for your help and thanks for all the info. you provide on the site. TV gets here on Tuesday for sure and well it sounds like when it does I will have to really tinker with settings to get that perfect picture. I know you shared some settings on the tv’s review. I guess I have to get rid of kind of a green tinge people get more with this tv. Btw also passed on your reviews of the QN90A and an LG OLED tv from 2021 to my daughter and told her this is what I would have bought could I truly afford it. She and her bf got the first ever house in their lives and so going to need a tv or two and I know they can afford more. Honestly hope she gets one of the two or both I shared so I can see how good they are.
Hey Sean,
Thanks so much for sharing all that information with me, it’s extremely helpful and I’m definitely happy to assist you with your purchase decision. I understand that good black uniformity is important to you and so is HDR pop so that’s a good start. Do you mind also elaborating on how you intend to use it? Based on your intended usage, it may not be necessary to spend the extra money, so any additional information you can provide would be awesome. For instance, will you be doing any gaming, just watching movies/tv shows/sports. Also, will you be sitting directly across from the TV most of the time or off-center at all, etc. Thanks in advance! :)
I will be sitting from the couch not more than 6 feet away and will be looking at it directly. I basically only watch YouTube and Netflix and yes want to watch that content and maybe some movies in 4K when I can. Honestly though movie viewing at home has died for me. I can’t remember the last time I did it so it is not a focus for me obviously. For gaming 4K 60 FPS and max settings are the only goal whether on PC or console. I don’t care about anything more. I have a 4K gaming PC that I may hook up to it eventually but right now have another tv / monitor for 4K gaming. Really a new tv will be about gaming in 4K on console in the family room. Right now I only have the Xbox One X for 4K after getting rid of the Xbox Series X as I wasn’t using it enough at Christmas but in the future will have both that console and the Sony PS5 so yeah a tv suited to 4K gaming with those is needed although I really don’t care about those consoles allowing people to get more than 60 FPS with the right display as I am not a competitive gamer nor a good gamer so the extra FPS won’t help me. As for sound I don’t care how it sounds as tv sound these days seems to be utter garbage. I expect to have to get a sound bar although I’d prefer to not have to. Finally in regards to sports I did watch the NHL last year and may get the Center Ice package again but really for me when I watch hockey I want it to look more ugly than good. I am 48 and my best times watching hockey were not in HD or anything else fancy. I don’t want sport to be a movie-like experience. Even surround sound would bother me.
Oh and my first experience with 4K and HDR is with the UM7300AUE. Only 400 nits at max (looked again and I guess it is less) and I like the pop but of course want to experience something better. The sound on the tv is awful but I knew that when I got it. It is what is being used as my monitor right now. Also in regards to picture I used your settings from the site and it looks adequate, more than adequate for me. I can notice better quality tvs but it is usually comparing bottom of the barrel to high end and even then there have been some times, if few, where it was tough to see a difference. That should give you an idea of how my eyes are. I guess many would say they are bad. LOL!
Forgot one more thing ….. 55" size is fine for me so I save a little there when buying a tv. I wouldn’t mind more screen size but I won’t pay handsomely for it.
Btw with the first post I edited it as I read it over again and one thing I wanted to say was said wrong. Basically the sustained 100% window peak brightness (HDR and SDR) is what matters most. Right? That number is pretty high on the U78G even when compared to the other two tvs I mentioned. Is there something more I should know?
Hey Sean,
Hope everything is going well! You should be able to change that pretty easily when you go to print something. Of course, this varies between printers and what program you’re printing from. But when you go to print a document, you’ll want to hit more settings/advanced settings. Click the ‘preferences’ button and then you should see options to change DPI and such. Let me know what you think! :)
I had an insane amount of problems at first with the printer. Connectivity was an issue. It remembering what it was to print off or not print off was an issue. Being able to cancel a print was an issue. The printer did have the firmware updated by me. I reinstalled software. I reinstalled drivers. I did everything and more than the average person would do out there. I am thankful I can do some troubleshooting with pc related stuff on my own. Anyway the printer is now working fine although it is hooked to the router by ethernet. It was not originally that way. Thing is though I have been able to print out something from my laptop not wired so I guess wireless is working. As for print quality and such I did all the step by step setup on the display of the printer to get it right and also did it with the pc and the quality is fine although I will say I don’t remember many options or any in terms of DPI. Still though I am satisfied with the print quality and I am satisfied with how one handles refilling ink and such. I like the system partially and I say partially though because it should be able to run on only black. So yeah the printer is doing what I need it to do but I still have to figure out what I should pay for ink and also if there are any 3rd party ink sellers that are worth buying from. Also when it comes to paper quality and type isn’t so cut and dry. I do need card stock for various card games and some versions of card stock with the so called same number stating quality is not the same from brand to brand. Also even regular paper seems to not be as simple as one thinks. This supposed good buy on Amazon.ca looked great for 5000 sheets but then looking at reviews I heard of people talking of bleed through or being able to see too much through the paper and making the printed stuff on the other side look terrible. There is much more to buying printer paper than I though. So eh to finish the printer quality I have right now is fine and I know how to mess with many print quality options. Also if given an option on DPI I do know what it is about even if I haven’t seen much of it yet. Finally the printer while a bit fussy to get working eh once working was fine. People looking for something guaranteed to work right out of the box though might want to look elsewhere.
With the tvs there are always settings recommendations. I honestly don’t have much experience using printers. I am hoping to be able to easily adjust the printer to print a really low quality when I am printing something I am just going to trash after reading it over and then bump up the quality when I am printing something I want to keep. Is this sort of thing easy to do? Is it easy to adjust printer settings? I honestly haven’t opened the box yet after getting this two days ago. The printer came early and usually one would see this as a blessing but there is this fear in me that I am going to mess things up when using this. : S
No problem at all! I really hope this works out! Please keep me posted! :)
Well my mom ordered it. It cost like $451 and change after tax. No shipping surprisingly. I get it on the 18th. So looking forward to it as I have PDF cards and dice games to print off plus boat loads of sim baseball stuff to print off. Also looking forward to getting some new cards and dice game PDFs to print off. Thanks so much for having this site btw as it has not only helped me with this printer purchase but it has helped others I know and I pick out tvs too. PS: My mom of course tried to talk me down on price and look at other printers but I let her know once again this was the perfect fit.
Hey Sean,
First off, I’m sorry to hear you’ve been having so many issues trying to find the right printer. I’ll definitely do my best to help you find one that meets your needs! I’m with you though, the Epson ET-3760 definitely seems like a good option for you! That said, I do have some (potentially) good news! I believe I managed to find it available at Costco and see you can see it here If this is in fact something you’re looking forward, I believe you can also purchase it from them online as well. If that’s something you’re able to do, let me know as I do think it would be a great option for you. If you can’t/ don’t want to go down that route, let me know and I’ll be sure to offer you some other alternatives! Thanks! :)
Well wonderfully my mom has a membership. Considering she doesn’t go to London, Ontario much anymore I was shocked but pleasantly shocked. She is going to check later and see what the price is. Unfortunately there will be shipping and even an ECO fee so this could get more expensive than I want it to be. It would be nice to get the printer I really want though. Thanks for your reply and offer to help further if need be.
Edited 3 years ago: Just needed to add more information.
Based on what I quickly went over with the SAMSUNG QE43Q60RA it will be better based on the review scores and guaranteed the HDR pop will be better on the tv. The thing is what price will you be paying for it? Also are you using this more as a gaming monitor or tv? I have the LG UM 7300 in front of me and while the review said blacks were not good it has been the opposite for me. The best thing one can do if possible is see the tv running in person if they can find a store that has it or maybe a buddy that has it but times like these can make it more difficult. Anyway what I had to say about this tv, the LG UM 7300, in detail can be found here …
As shown on the settings page of the review: “for proper chroma 4:4:4 support, it is important to set the input label to ‘PC’ for the HDMI port you are using.”
Crap crap and crap lol. No but dont nu those tvs you mention. Get the Samsung NU8000 o8lr TCL R617 or Vizio P or Sony x900f. The 49" inch is going for $1000
In Canada here …
and the Sony x900f tvs are going for $1300 to $1400 before tax is even included so no go on that model. TCL and a little Vizio was carried at Walmart but already seeing people talking about TCL deaths / issues and seeing refurbs sold by places my interest in them has gone down and as for Vizio they were only carried during the holiday season or close to it after and so finding Vizio not going to happen most likely. As for the Samsung model mentioned I see it at stores for $999 to $1199. Like I said to my mom when tv shopping recently I was not impressed by anything really. It always seems you are compromising something with each model when it comes to reasonably priced tvs. Also I am seeing QLED dropping into the range of LED/LCD tvs so really thinking I should just wait. I have almost just settled on the idea of getting a really cheap gaming monitor for pc and worry about 4K later on if ever. Finally the last time I looked at Teppermans and The Brick none of the tvs including higher priced tvs really caught my eye. They were showing live tv though.
Sooooo … as for getting a tv btw it would be someone else signing for one for me so I can’t get it from places like Walmart or Best Buy where they don’t have the same kind of financing and deals other places have.
PS: As for the cheap tvs I mentioned I saw that LG UK 6300 more than a few times and while it is missing some features I want it up close had the best picture and I would be sitting at it using it as a 4K monitor so wish I had money to just throw at it and risk it and if I didn’t like it buy something else.
Thanks for your response. I understand why you do what you do. As a consumer though one should always be looking at old too as newer / current doesn’t mean the item is better. I will promise to take a look though at what you got to say about budget 2024 OLED offerings.

Personally OP I wouldn’t trust OLEDs for gaming. Burn in is still a real thing.
