Which monitor do you prefer, I’m looking at this asus and the mag274qrf-qd e2 which is an refreshed version of your msi monitor and from your comment I’m leaning towards to the msi, with clearer screen and better contrast ratio and quantum dots however probably a slower gtg with a bit of inverse ghosting which i can bear with as I’m playing both competitive games and single player games
Me personally I don’t like either monitor 🤣 I’m a console user & hate OVERSATURATED colours etc.. so sRGB mode is a must for me but it has to be extremely accurate or my eyes just die looking at it. That said if you have a PC then 100% MSI one. Install an ICC profile & it’s absolutely remarkable on accuracy
Could you guys test the graininess of the matte coating of the screen as they are multiple threads suggesting that the screen is much more grainy than a typical IPS panel
From my personal experience is it slightly stronger than other coatings. My MSI MAG274QRF-QD had less than this. Turning up the vivid pixel on the Asus seems to help a little but it isn’t as clear & crisp as id like it to be.
My biggest problem still with this monitor is the viewing angles. I can be sat dead centre of my screen & I get a strange blue sheen on the left hand side almost as though I’m looking at it from the side
i want to get it but some reviews are mentioning harsh grainy matte coating on the display. is the matte coating on this display good? is it a little grainy/fuzzy on white or light colors? a weird kind of “sheen” or “grain” on the whole screen that is mainly only visible on white or mostly white screens, like on YouTube, or after opening a new tab. It’s sort of hard to explain. It looks like there’s a thin film of Vaseline on the screen, causing it to look smudgy. does it look like that for you?
For me it almost looked as tho the clarity was decreased. Text & find objects didn’t look crisp! Even when turning up vivid pixel
Yeah after using this for around 3 weeks I’ve ended up returning it & going big rather than mid & investing in the Dell G3223Q as the sRGB mode is absolutely Incredibly accurate.
This monitor in the sRGB cal mode has as I can only describe the shadow enhancer to level 1? Giving it a strange misty vibe. It also has a strange bluish tint.
User mode is just as accurate as the sRGB mode but darker scenes are to dark than they should be.
Matte coating I don’t really have a problem with as I’ve always used IPS panels but when viewing this monitor STRAIGHT ON the left hand side of my monitor looks as though I’m looking at it from angle giving it a dim BLUE look.. I literally caught my self tilting my body to the left to make sure i wasn’t going crazy.
& The backlight bleed on the left hand side was horrid I was able to see mine even in mid dark scenes.
Maybe I got a faulty monitor but wasn’t risking it again.
There’s already a good review of this monitor at monitors unboxed, it’s another good bang for buck 1440p. I don’t understand why everyone is voting for it in the pipeline with so many different more interesting stuff available.

Because RTINGS can be more in-depth. Monitors unboxed convinced me to buy the MSI MAG 274QRF-QD excellent monitor when calibrated for PC but for console use it’s terrible! I play in SRGB & the whites literally flash banged me. When I looked at the monitor RTINGS it shown it doesn’t follow the gamma curve at all & whites are to bright. & Normal mode is over saturated.
So I’m excited for another well tuned company to give Thier findings on this monitor. SRGB/Racing mode is excellent & so is the SRGB cal mode but I could still do with a little tweaks here & there & RTINGS have always provided that when doing tests.
Ive bought this monitor for my PS5 & it’s absolutely incredible! So good in fact I’m torn between SRGB cal mode & normal mode! But waiting for RTINGS osd tweaks to I can set it perfectly

It is compatible. Also has VRR without needing HDMI 2.1
It definitely is more grainy. My MAG optix 274QRF-QD had better clarity then this. & Vivid pixel makes things way to sharp

Id say mid October tbh.

Yeah? They have to order it. Have it delivered. Then do tests. Could take about 2 weeks in total.
Personally I’d wait for Ratings review. Then make a more decisive decision. Everyone sees differently & everyone has different taste
