They are now listing the 50" model on their official web site. Retail price $1,499.99: It does list it as having the wide viewing a gle feature & that it is a 120 Hz panel, the two features that were left off the 50" Q80T.
This TV has superb low input lag when in the ‘Game’ Picture Mode
This statement is anachronistic! for me 9 ms not full chroma is only an acceptable value, not an exceptional one. For a “gaming only” TV I would look elsewhere
No measurement of input lag at 240hz? In the review of the 2023 model, an input lag of 3.3 ms was noted in 1080p@240hz no VRR mode It is now clear that the new target size starts from 65". smaller sizes will always receive less media attention and consequently inferior features. The 55" model has less than half the lighting zones, and is probably not worth purchasing
Really interested in the PC use and pixel layout….
I am also interested using it as PC MONITOR. but what s tipe of use do you means? Gaming / video or Office related stuff? As Office usage i think the old QN90C due RGB pixel matrix ADS (ips) panel is unbeatable! If you are gaming oriented the only reason to not go with OLED as old S90C very cheap now is due low and variable brighteness limiter thats will be annoing
It is only my opinion, but 1080p@240hz does not do much benefit since the TV’s response time is not that fast. r you referring to pixel latency in calibrated mode! iam interested as pc monitor and input lag overall . If you not care for color fidelty most tv can overdrive their pixel to match 240hz at the cost of some overdrive error .. truly acceptable
You’re referring to Quantum’s Youtube review of the 55" model, which has far lower specs than the other sizes. His “review” was a largely unsupported emotional rant based on little to no objective evidence. His examples of orange being off made me think he must be color blind. Hisense NEVER said the 55" would do 3000 nits as Quantum claimed. The only decent review of the U8N I’ve seen is Caleb Denison’s, and he found none of those issues with the 65". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rx-9Y8Uw7Ik&t=10s&ab_channel=DigitalTrends
yep you hit the mark ! I was worried after seen Quantum review , indeed i am after 55" model because i will use it as pc monitor
Hi Thundra74, Very glad to hear that you’re enjoying our table tool feature :) Thanks for sharing your insights about our current “Office” usage score! 25% is indeed quite high for a scoring weight for resolution and size. We’re looking to completely redesign our usage scores in the near future to make them more representative of how a monitor performs in different scenario, so I’ve noted all your suggestions directly in our list for review when we get to it. Although there’s no set timeline for these changes, I am very much looking forward to us working on it! In the meantime, did you know you can create your own custom usages and weight components according to your preferences? It’s the “+ Create your own” link directly under the HDR usage score on top of the review. :) Let us know should you have any other feedback or suggestions for us! Regards

Hi Pascal thanks for your ansers! Recently i swapped to BGR matrix led and with Cleartype and Mactype help i am pretty satisfied with text clarity also with Time Date bar in right corner of desktop (win11 100% size interface). I followed your suggestion about “Monitor table tool” and found it very intersting and now i use actively in my research. I need to tell you that i work in a local computer store and i have found another quirks about office score composition in “Monitor Table tool” 25% SIze and resolution is too much weighed! When costumer came on us the size of monitor are often limited by office workstation and desktop(table) size. We often find it difficult to convince customers to choose a 32" over a 27"(when possible!) for the same money Many office pc are old ,without dedicated vga and 4k resolution can be unattainable without proper hw upgrade (hdmi 2.0-cable-vga ?). IMHO Text clarity, SDR brightness and good reflection handling are the more common and desiderable field of choice . Size and resolution came After that for more specific request ! For example an architect or building surveyor needed more resolution “space” and size for working confortable on theirs project , typographies and designer needed color fidelity to match their printers and modelling but this are all niche uses
Hi Panichidi, you hit the target! I found the “PC MONITOR” rating misleading, it should be renamed PC GAMING instead because all the sub-tests are gaming related! but if you pass the question mark for help, you read a note on the sharp text but it’s funny because there is no related score! If you want to buy a large screen for your office work the “PC Monitor” test will give you the wrong answer. I have been using the large TV panel as a pure monitor for a long time and am sensitive to this problem. I’m still using a 1080p RGB panel, but I’m thinking of switching to the BGR or Pentile matrix model and am concerned about the readability of small text. I am visually impaired and for me Text clariness is truly important. Windows cleartipe can fix BGR but some other software will not ! for samsung OLED pentile there is no fix still I suggest RTINGS reviewers include some sample text images such as the Windows date and clock so you can make a clear comparison Ciao Paolo R
But for a VA panel, wouldn’t the poor viewing angle be a factor depending on the size of the screen and the viewing distance?
Yeah i know what you thinking ! VA panel without wide layering filter are very narrow optimal view ad if you stand too much near bordermay shift color, brightness and accuracy. Well i can confirm thats is true beacuse my 55 panel is Auptronics VA very narrow viewing angle and from 4 feet i can see a light shifting in luminance in the farther corner but you can see it only in static and uniform image like windows desktop but its no disturbimg at all, its very mild! In gaming you don t see any dimming in the corner rest assured. I can assure you that some monitor bleeding are a way worse and more disturbing
it’s truly subjective you can not use distance chart !It is relate to type of content and your view acuity. My two cents are you can enlarge your screen or reduce your distance from panel until you can not disturbed from pixel aliasing. Obviusly if you work with calc and word you cant stand too much near panel , but for action game you can near a lot without optical complain! until you loose awareness of border of scene so in competitive game its better to keep all screen area inner your field of view. Iam using a big screen as a monitor 55" 1080p and it stand about almost 4feet ( 110cm) from my eye and iam pretty satisfied but my Visual Acuity its not very good but my friends who see my setup were impressed from clarity and sharpening! Now they also own a tv as PC-monitor but they go for 4k version 49" and they distance was about 80cm from eye
There shouldn’t be a hardware problem though considering the X90H uses the MediaTek MT5895 SoC that is specifically made for HDMI 2.1 on 4K and 8K TVs. That hardwares purpose is purely for 4K120 and 8K60. Everything Sony have said has been complete lies and a joke. They should remove the PS5 ready slogan from it as it’s not even remotely close to being PS5 friendly with a bullshit 4K120 implementation.
Are you sure about MediaTek MT5895 SoC over tv processing and hdmi 2.1 capability? I had always thought that SoC onboard modern tv are only for smart TV feature not for post processing/ scalimg/ FRL -TmDS compresission at all. It was my mistake i always thought that sony limitation over hdmi 2.1 full bandwidth and relative croma subsampling 4:2:0 was due X1 processimg limitation.
Rx 5700xt do not support hdmi 2.1 as i know so autonegotiation let you believed is it active but iam sure is not!
I dont own a vizio M7 neither i have acess to it due im live in EU , i am not sure about its support of 1440p ( its rare on tv) but 4k 60hz i am sure of it !
4k 60hz have a lot of declination , you can set a lot of options like cromasubsampling, HDR maybe FRC ( 8bit +frc), motion compensation , game mode etcetc and not all are compatible one with other ,you need to start with basic setting do no try to enable all.
SO if are experienced some problem first try to update TV firmwre, check cable you need 2.0b or superior.
I suggest you to make a vga driver update with clean install and last check hdmi port .
SONY YOU FAIL! As a manifactur of ps5 and big on videoludic industries are not you able to compete on gaming TV market? Are you joke?. You dont have a gaming monitor line so you dont risc to make inner cross market competition. Do you still think TV ‘s like only as cinema movie proiector? TV now are center of domestic entertaiment , where gaming take a big chunk . Your future is to lose this market as happened with smartphone Sony if you want go “ MIRAI” you need to bring out a tv che meet market demand . 120hz 4:4:4, low input lag ,integer scaling, and good quality in game mode without tricks are whats we need!
8k suffer heavy bandwith limitation over hdmi 2.1 ! Its 48gbs are only able to cover 4:2:0 sub sampling compression that is ok for mostly cinema and video, but is it an heavy limitation for other usage. TV are evolving from simple HiFi Cinema Player to centre ( or center) of domestic entertaiment where gaming is the New Leading Time usage of tv if you have children. But you can also use them as a gigantic monitor if you need a lot of open windows instead of multi monitor solution. In this last case pixel chroma subsampling where you cant employ 4:4:4 ad weird rgb array ( BGR) are a limiting factor . My 2cents are thats today hitting market 8k TV are not future proof at All.
Well 4k 60 hz dont need hdmi 2.1 . Maybe this tv has a precheck if you force hdmi 2.1 and if dont have a proper cable or dont find a proper hdmi 2.1 source its go black
@rtings please when you retest 120hz 4k 4:4:4 cababilities with the just purchased RTX 3080 put on Advertise ! Every day i go in a mad running an all old reviews to see if did retested!!
Do you have tryed to contact Nvidia Pubblic relations of your country to have shipped a rtx3080 for test? As RTINGS you are well Knew
I am a pc gamers and i use a 55" TV 1080p as monitor . I see it from about 1mt distance from my eye. Playing with it was wonderful truly immersive a never came back esperienze. As a monitor at start i found it a bit blocky ,maybe 50" size would be’ a better choice. In the end after a few year with this setup ( 55 1080p) iam very accostumed to this size. My opinion is Thats tv movie charter distance are not applicabile to pc monitor usage. Minimum vieving distance are a bit personal but the biggest you can have without seeing pixel ( blocky icona name) is the better.
There is some problem with LG OLED CX and rtx 3080 in the way of handling the 120hz signal with full croma subsampling ….a lot on complain on nvidia forum, reddit and also some youtube video
