The Cuisinart Custom Select 4-Slice Toaster RBT-1350PC is a metal-bodied four-slot toaster with multiple toasting modes. It has the garden-variety preset modes for bagels and frozen items and more unconventional settings intended for pastries, waffles, and more. Its slots are fairly deep and somewhat long, but they can be too narrow to fit thick baked goods.

Our Verdict

6.8 Toasting

The Cuisinart Custom Select 4-Slice Toaster RBT-1350PC is an alright toaster. It has large slots and does a great job of maintaining a consistent level of done-ness after going through multiple cycles, which is great if you need to toast a lot of bread in a hurry. On the downside, even at its highest shade setting, it won't char white bread, so you'll need to run an extra cycle to really brown dense bread. While each slot tends to brown both sides of a slice to a similar level, there's a noticeable degree of inconsistency across different slots. It also lacks a countdown indicator to tell you when your toast will be done.

Pros
  • Wide variety of toasting options.
  • Consistent performance batch-to-batch.
Cons
  • Won't char white bread in a single cycle.
  • Inconsistent toasting across different slots.
  • 6.8 Toasting

Compared To Other Toasters

The Cuisinart Custom Select 4-Slice Toaster RBT-1350PC is a four-slot toaster with a metal body. It's very similar in design to the Cuisinart 4 Slice Custom Select Toaster but features a slightly different control scheme with a rotary dial for adjusting the shade setting, as opposed to the latter's slider, which didn't allow you to select increment settings. This makes the RBT-1350PC the better option if you want to adjust the length of the toasting cycle more precisely.

This toaster has a variety of settings for different kinds of items. The 'Bagel' setting turns down the elements on one side to avoid burning the bottom of your bagel, and the 'Defrost' (Frozen) setting is meant to warm frozen items like waffles gently before toasting. It has presets for bread, waffles, pastry, and English muffins. There's also a 'Single' button for when you're only toasting one slice of bread. Unlike the Cuisinart 4 Slice Custom Select Toaster, the RBT-1350PC's shade setting dial allows you to select increment settings for more precise levels of toasting.
