Wolf Gourmet Four Slice Toaster Toaster Review

Tested using Methodology v1.0

The Wolf Gourmet Four Slice Toaster is a high-end toaster. You can operate its four slots separately in pairs, which suits busy mornings. Its '1-Slice' setting is meant to help it brown single slices more evenly. It has wider slots than many toasters, accommodating extra thick slices. However, its controls would be better if they included a way of knowing how much time remains in a toasting cycle. It's also a hefty toaster, so you'll want to store it where you use it.

Our Verdict

7.8 Toasting

The Wolf Gourmet Four Slice Toaster is very good. It toasts bread quite evenly on both sides of the bread, and its five settings provide a good range of results. However, the highest setting doesn't char white sandwich bread, so if your bread takes longer to toast, you might need to add more time at the end. Some slots also produce darker toast than the others, and after the first batch, it produces darker toast while set to the same setting.

Pros
  • Toasts both sides evenly.
  • Premium feel.
Cons
  • Heats up after the first batch.
  • 7.8 Toasting

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The Wolf Gourmet Four Slice Toaster comes in one stainless steel variant. You can see the label for the unit we tested here. The brand also makes the Wolf Gourmet Two-Slice Toaster, which is similar but may perform differently.

Compared To Other Toasters

The Wolf Gourmet Four Slice Toaster is a high-end toaster with four slots. It stands out for its premium feel, especially the levers, which feel nice to use and aren't hard to push down. However, it heats up after a few batches and produces darker bread while set to the same setting. It doesn't char sandwich bread even on its highest setting, so if you like your toast very well-done or your chosen bread takes longer, you'll need to run more than one cycle.

Aside from bagel and frozen settings, there's also a button for the '1-slice' feature, which the manufacturer advertises to help brown the bread more evenly when you're only toasting a single slice. However, there's no way of knowing how much time is left until your toast is ready, which is disappointing.
