Amazon Fire TV 65" Omni QLED Series is compatible with HDCP 2.2 or HDCP 2.3. ?
GadgetryTech on YouTube reviewed these and said the imaging is maybe the best he’s ever heard. He also mentioned that the driver matching was top notch. He uses objective measurements and gives a thorough analysis. I’m convinced you guys got a bad sample.
I personally believe he has some paid reviews though, so always best to take his “subjective” section with a grain of salt. He consistently says lots of headphones are the best he’s ever heard in that price range, so it makes you wonder how many “best” there can be at any given time and whether or not the headphones were provided for him or not by the manufacturer.
comment deletedI’ve looked at a plethora of reviews on this over the past few months, that haven’t echoed the sentiments this one has especially in regards to sound quality and driver matching which for many testers and reviews has been almost a non-issue. As what looks to be an outlier review, I really wonder if the review unit Rtings tested here was at fault as an exception or if planars really are hard to consistently match.
After testing myself personally, these results seem like they’re accurate. These things barely sound better than the Pulse 3D and have worse imaging and from what I heard, more distortion.
Just because something is planar magnetic it doesn’t automatically make it good. The tuning on the Pulse Elite is just weird and uneven.
I would reconsider the sources of the other reviews and how reliable they are when it comes to breaking down technical details vs just saying “this thing sounds amazing!” and glossing over shortcomings.
I also would like to mention it sucks that Sony locks mic monitoring behind this headset. It’s clearly an option that could be available at a system level, but it’s only a system sound menu option when this is turned on and plugged in with the dongle.
Super gross.
As the other user has said there seems to be a silent revision to this headphone in 2022 and I have seen the change in frequency response graph reported by many people in many audio forums, https://www.sennheiser-hearing.com/en-US/p/hd-560s/ckyy9r5q0016i0c96sk5d9tog/ Even in the website it lists some changes. This is one of the highest recommended open backs for pc gaming and I think it is worth testing if there is any changes in other measurements. Could you guys pls retest this head phone?
I’ve tried both the old version and the new revision (both new out of the box) and they sound the same to me. I think people might be comparing their old broken-in HD 560s with a new revision out of the box and there’s going to be some bias, earpad wear, breaking in of the headband, and loosening of the clamping force over time. If someone gives me a definitive side by side FR graph with brand-new, fresh out of the box sets of these tested on professional equipment and it shows some kind of significant variance, then I’ll believe something’s up.
From what I’ve heard with my own two ears, I don’t hear anything drastically different that warrants a retest, nor anything that warrants getting upset over. I can almost guarantee if there wasn’t a cable change, they could’ve had a silent revision and you could put them side by side and never know which was which based on sound.
Can you tell me in advance what the result is? Does rtings have a high rating on the sound quality of this headset? Thank you very much
I’d like to, but I gotta respect the Rtings team and support them with the Insider program and not leak early access reviews. They work hard and I like to pay them for their work!
These early test results with the treble, imaging and sound stage are pretty much what I expected with them when I tried them out at launch.
Interested to see what the full review text says about everything as a whole.
Thanks for the hard work and accuracy you guys always provide!
BTW, I’m also curious about how this model compares to the Inzone series. After the Inzone H5 replaced the Inzone H7, RTINGS didn’t conduct another review of the Inzone H5. I’m wondering if I should opt for one of Sony’s headphones for mid-range gaming, or perhaps consider other options instead?
I can already tell you these are significantly better than the Inzone line of headphones, especially if you use them wired. I tried a couple of the Inzone line of headphones, H7 and H3 and I’m not sure who would choose those over any other kind of headphones available out there with far better performance at better or similar price points.
The Inzone line of products has been a big wet fart as far as I’m concerned.
I’d like to see this reviewed as well
Anyone have any luck getting these to connect to a Nintendo Switch? I bought some reading in a review elsewhere that they work on the Switch. Sadly, that does not appear to be the case unless I’m missing something weird.
Can we start getting a list of top performers for FPS games. Objective testing scores such as imaging and soundstage gives us an idea but doesn’t always translate to performance when it comes to headsets. Can we get subjective opinions? Thanks!
I think you might need to go to YouTube for that… I don’t think subjective takes on performance really fit here. I think if anything, just pay attention to the Bass/Mid/Treble accuracy and imaging and if those are good, you should be fine.
If you’re looking for footstep enhancing, there are multiple gaming headsets with those features built in and they’re usually mentioned in the reviews.
Hello, Happy to hear you’re enjoying this monitor! As for your question, it’s probably best to manually switch back to the SDR mode each time you go to SDR from HDR. There’s a chance that the monitor automatically switches it, depending on the source, but if not, it’s best to switch it on your own.
Thanks! It doesn’t automatically switch unless you leave it on the HDR mode, but that just over saturates the colors for SDR content so it’s not really worth it. I’ve just been manually switching from HDR to SDR sRGB mode when I switch to certain games. It’s slightly annoying to do on a per game basis, but honestly for $179 I can’t complain! It just forces me to stick to one game for longer 😅
Hello, That’s a good question. In reality, it shouldn’t affect the gaming performance, but for this monitor I would suggest turning off Adaptive Sync when you’re using the PS5. This is because you need to disable Adaptive Sync if you want to get downscaled 4k @ 60Hz from the console. If you leave Adaptive Sync on, you can still use 1440p and 1080p signals though.
Thanks! That has been bothering me wondering if it should be left on or turned off and what it might do to performance. Seems smart to turn it off for more features at least if it’s not being utilized.
Thanks again for always being super responsive! You guys are great!
In my experience, the 28GP83B has much worse contrast and worse black uniformity. I ended up settling on the Odyssey G52A.
It would apply to anything outputting 60hz so yes the consoles too.
Sometimes that’s not the case if the monitor is set to max refresh but your PC is set to 60hz. This is why I’m asking about consoles specifically. I know there are some weird cases with Samsung monitors and VRR, so that’s what I’m looking for.
My recommendation is to not view your monitor through your phone’s camera in a dark environment and you’ll more than likely not even notice much IPS glow in practical use unless you’re really looking for it.
Thanks for the recommendation! I went ahead and added it to our suggestion list, so we’ll buy and review it if there’s enough interest!
I’m definitely interested. I know it’s a little late, but this seems like a pretty significant revision and I think it makes the G52A a hidden gem that doesn’t get enough love.
Alright, it’s interesting that you feel any difference. In reality you shouldn’t and there isn’t any settings to change, so maybe you should try contacting HP customer service to see what they say :) As for the resolution, it shouldn’t have an effect on the input lag, but you can try setting the monitor/PS5 to the native 1440p resolution to see if you feel any difference.
Thanks!
Ahhhh ok I understand now! It’s interesting that you say that because we measured the exact same 9.0ms input lag on both monitors. There are different factors that contribute to the input lag and a lot have to do with the internals of the monitor and your PC/console, and not necessarily the panel. When you have the PS5 plugged into both, are you using the same resolution and refresh rate settings?
Yes, setting it to 1440p manually and leaving Freesync/Adaptive Sync on with both monitors. Not using 120hz at all, and using HDR “Only when supported” setting on PS5. Both monitors set to the recommended overdrive modes on Rtings.
I guess I’m just wondering if I missed some simple setting on the x27q that needed to be turned on/off to achieve the 9ms input lag at 60hz. I’d much rather pay $250 than $450 for a very similar monitor haha.
Also, is it better for input lag to set a monitor to the native resolution vs setting it to 2160p (if supported by the monitor) and downscaling?
Thanks for all of the responses!
Sorry yeah I realize I wasn’t super clear, but the input lag on the x27q I got feels significantly higher than 9ms of input lag at 60hz. I have an LG 27GP83B now and the input lag feels almost nonexistent.
I’m just wondering what would make one 9ms input lag monitor have more delay than another 9ms input lag monitor.
Could the BOE panel version of the x27q be that much worse than the LG panel on the x27q?
Hopefully that makes a little more sense!
Thanks!
I’d recommend using the sRGB mode since it seems to have fairly accurate out of the box colors. I’ve been using that for SDR content and it looks great aside from the gamma making things seem just a hair too bright sometimes. I prefer that to things being too dark, but there’s always something just not quite perfect with every monitor!
Try turning Freesync back on? I just got this monitor tonight and it’s the fastest 60hz response time/input lag @ 60hz I’ve seen yet and I’ve tested about 10 different 1440p 27” monitors at this point. This one is the winner by far in many aspects.
Also make sure that you manually set the resolution to 1440p in the PS5 video settings as I believe leaving it on auto will force 4K and downscale and maybe there’s some input lag there? Hope that helps!
