Thinking of the A80J - but I can get the A9G for cheaper...
Currently I have an X900E and it’s been a fine TV. I’m a big Sony fan. LCD is good but I’ve always wanted the deep blacks afforded by the OLED. My Mom wants a new TV so I figure it’s time for me to upgrade and give her the X900E.
Started wanting the 65". Decided I’ll go ahead and go up to 77".
As of today, I can get the a80j@$4500 or the a9@$3500. I haven’t touched a game console in the last 20 years so it’s of little concern. Brightness is a minor concern but I keep the lights off all day and rarely open the blinds. Most TV watching is at night regardless.
Considering my needs, any reason I should choose the a80j over the a9?

I also would really like the good team at RTINGS to test this as well, because I really want to get the 55in!

Unfortunately, we no longer have the X930E, so we can’t test this. We keep our TVs and retest them for about a year, and then we sell them to make room for new models.
