Would love to see (hear?) what you guys think of the Lodge Solar Speaker (lodgesound.com). They did a production run through Indiegogo a year or so ago, and have now launched full retail. The site says its IP66-rated, and they’re solar-powered (with an internal battery).

I’m surprised you only seem to review “set top” or Bluetooth speakers in your Outdoor guide, rather than installable/mountable speakers for patio use, like JBL Stage-XD, Yamaha NS, Polk Atrium lines?
Hi there and thanks for your comment! We definitely hear you on this - we’re planning an overhaul of this article with some new outdoor speakers in the future. Sadly we’re limited to active speakers, due to the limitations of our testing methodology (though this could also change in the future). Most of the speakers you recommended require an amp to function, which means we’d be unable to test them. That said, we’re always open to suggestions for solar or battery-powered speakers that are a good fit for patio use!
Update: We’ve made minor edits to the text for clarity, but our picks haven’t changed.
