Hello Sdghasemi, Thank you for your interests on this category. Internally there are many of us that are into home theaters and music rooms whom would love to review these products. We are also very interested in the world of bookshelf and standing speakers and subs.
For now these are not on our pipeline for this year, but I would not be surprised to see this as a category in the mid term. Stay tuned.
Wanted to comment on this thread to emphasize how amazing it would be to rate multi-channel surround sound systems with HT receivers, integrated amps, bookshelf/floor standing speakers, in-ceiling speakers, and subwoofers.
A lot of online reviews are subjective (Audio Science Review is the only site I’ve seen with actual test results on these products), and it’s difficult to get a sense of what good vs great looks like without actually auditioning the products (which if you’re investing a lot of $$ you should do, but this would at least give folks an opportunity to get started).
This would be such an incredible addition to RTINGS and would give a complete picture to people looking to start or upgrade beginner or audiophile/cinephile systems. Sounds like this is something that you all would love to do, so looking forward to someday when it becomes reality!
Interesting to see this thread, because I was wondering the same thing today! Why only test lifestyle audio products? In most audio/hifi communities people say even just a pair of active Klipsch bookshelfs beats any kind of soundbar setup and based on my experience I can second that opinion.
It would be interesting to see the actual numbers of component audio vs soundbar setups using the same methodology.
Hi Coys. We appreciate your suggestion. Personally I am totally with you on that. Things don’t come overnight, and if (when) we start evaluating new lines of products, we want to make sure our evaluations are top notch. I can’t commit on any timeline for now, but we talk about these here and that’d be our wish too.
