Twin-size mattresses are a good option for kids, adults with limited space, and guest rooms, especially if you're looking for an affordable option or need multiple mattresses for bunk beds. Twin beds (75" X 38") are a little over half the width of a Queen-size bed, and 5" shorter.

While twin beds can be a comfortable option for adults, they aren't ideal for couples, of course. Taller people looking for a compact mattress might prefer a Twin Long or Twin XL mattress (80" X 38"). Whether you're looking for a cheap mattress or want to invest in a higher-end bed, you'll want one that suits your needs. Here are some considerations when choosing a twin-size bed using our lab testing and scores:

• Edge Support: Edge support is particularly important with narrower twin beds, since you'll want to maximize the comfortable sleeping space. Poor edge support, especially edges that collapse and push you out of bed, will make you feel more cramped. Look for a score of at least 7.5 for good edge support.
• Support and pressure relief: To find a comfortable mattress for you, look for a score of at least 7.5 for your body type and sleeping position. If you're looking for a Twin bed for a guest room, you may want a mattress that performs well for a range of people and sleeping styles.
• Cooling: If you sleep hot, look for a mattress with a cooling score of at least 8.0. Otherwise, a mattress with a score of at least 7.0 will keep most people comfortable.
