I’m not worried about getting warranty, but chances are you’ll get another one that has the same flickering or, worse, develops it after warranty has passed. Meanwhile I bought a Philips 42M2N8900. It’s not on rtings.com yet but IMHO it definitely should be. Main differences are the non-curved OLED screen with better contrast, faster response time, double the frame rate and of course it’s a 16:9 instead of a widescreen.
I bought one last month (Netherlands, webshop) and notice it flickers. No image retention so far. The flickering is very subtle on evenly colored spaces like macOS Finder and for example this webpage, but quite strongly when watching youtube videos, specially on certain colors / tints. Also, it varies depending on the chosen resolution, refresh rate and whether HDR is on or off, but once you see it, it is always there. Is it possible that the ‘8 bit that replicates 10-bit screen depth’ by very quickly switching colors is the cause of this? Whatever it may be, it’s annoying. I’m thinking about returning it. For this price (€ 1100 including tax and that was lower than usual because of a black friday deal) I think it’s not a good deal. @kwilliam71
