HDR brightness issue, faulty panel or update?

Hello guys,

So I just bought this TV, and at first glance I loved it. Rich contrast, colors and very bright. But I’ve just got super worried.

When trying HDR content from both Netflix and Amazon Prime apps, HDR brightness is half, literally half, of SDR’s brightness. The content is unwatchable with any daylight, and even at night it’s still pretty dim. Even more, with some tittles, like Sabrina or ironically Netflix’s original film ‘Bright’, it’s just unwatchable. Even playing it with dynamic mode, 100% backlight and every possible enhancement setting, the brightness is only ¼ that of SDR content, in a daylight scene!

In the other hand, in the Youtube app, ive played some ‘Oled HDR test’ videos, and some of them look fine, like 90% the brightness of SDR. And apart from that, I’ve tried ‘Bright’ through HDMI from Netflix on my pc, and it seems dimm as well, so idk. (Btw the internet speed is 120mbps, tested on the TV, so HDR is played at maximun possible quality).

From rtings and several other places, I’ve seen than both HDR and SDR should produce a similar amount of brightness, so i don’t know what’s going on.

I updated it while doing the set up to the newest 1260 version, so I dont know how it was before the update, or if the update is the reason or I dont know. From what I’ve read online, a few people complained that with every update Samsung ruined the brightness more and more, going from almost 1000 to 500 nits with this last one

So what do you think, I still can return it, and I think I will, because while sdr 4k is awesome, I’m worried I can’t watch any HDR content. But it’s a shame giving that apart from this, I loved the TV.

Thank you very much, and regards from Spain. (so btw sorry for my English too :))
