The Beast Mighty 850 is a higher-end personal blender with the same minimalistic design as other Beast blenders, including a ribbed jar design. It comes with three differently sized jars, storage lids, and two travel lid options, including a straw cap. It's more compact than other options from the brand, like the Beast Health Blender, but bigger than the Beast Mini Blender Plus.

Our Verdict

6.5 Multi-Purpose

The Beast Mighty 850 is okay for multi-purpose use. As a personal blender, it's mainly meant for blending drinks like smoothies and protein shakes, and it excels at blending common ingredients like fruit and leafy greens. It's a decent option for recipes like nut butter and hummus, although it's not the most convenient option for that purpose. There are several jars included. However, many personal blenders are more capable of crushing ice.

Pros
  • Great build quality.

  • Quiet.

  • Makes a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients.

  • Decent for making nut butter.

  • Comes with multiple jars.

Cons
  • Small capacity.

  • Struggles with ice crushing.

8.5 Smoothies (Single Serving)

The Beast Mighty 850 is excellent for single-serve smoothies. It quickly and easily makes a very smooth blend with fibrous ingredients like kale or fruit. While it's not very good at crushing ice, it can process a few ice cubes at once. Its design is well-suited for blending personal smoothies since it includes a straw lid for the jar, so you can bring your drink on the go.

Pros
  • Great build quality.

  • Makes a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients.

  • Blends quickly.

  • To-go lid included.

Cons
7.4 Smoothies (Multiple Servings)

The Beast Mighty 850 is decent for multiple smoothie servings. Its biggest jar has a 600mL blending capacity, which is enough for a couple of small smoothies, but really, it's best suited for blending one smoothie at once. Still, it makes a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients quickly and comes with several jars, so it's not a bad choice for making multiple servings if you work in batches.

Pros
  • Great build quality.

  • Makes a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients.

  • Blends quickly.

  • Comes with multiple jars.

Cons
  • Small capacity.

4.1 Ice Crushing

The Beast Mighty 850 isn't a good ice crusher. It can handle a couple of small batches of ice cubes, but you must manually pulse and shake the jar for good results. After a few batches, its motor heats up and you'd have to let it cool down before making any more crushed ice. Still, adding ice to a smoothie or protein shake isn't an issue.

Pros
  • Great build quality.

Cons
  • Small capacity.

  • Struggles with ice crushing.

3.7 Soups

The Beast Mighty 850 isn't suitable for soups. Like most personal blenders, it can't be used for blending hot ingredients. However, it does a fantastic job of smoothly blending fibrous ingredients like kale or broccoli, so as long as your ingredients aren't hot, it can help with making small batches of smooth, pureed soups or sauces.

Pros
  • Great build quality.

  • Makes a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients.

Cons
  • Small capacity.

  • Can't hot blend.

5.6 Professional Use

The Beast Mighty 850 isn't meant for professional use. It's mainly meant for preparing personal smoothies and struggles with more difficult blends like ice crushing, especially if you need multiple batches.

Pros
  • Great build quality.

  • Makes a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients.

Cons
  • Small capacity.

  • Struggles with ice crushing.

  • Can't hot blend.

  • 6.5 Multi-Purpose
  • 8.5 Smoothies (Single Serving)
  • 7.4 Smoothies (Multiple Servings)
  • 4.1 Ice Crushing
  • 3.7 Soups
  • 5.6 Professional Use

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The Beast Mighty 850 comes in several different colors: 'Carbon Black,' 'Cloud White,' 'Lilac,' 'Mist,' 'Sand,' and 'Terra.' We tested it in 'Carbon Black'. Here's a photo of our unit's label

If you encounter another variant, let us know in the forums, and we'll update our review.

Compared To Other Blenders

The Beast Mighty 850 is a higher-end personal blender with a very similar design to other Beast blenders. It's smaller than the Beast Mega 1200 and bigger than the Beast Mini Blender Plus, but like those models, comes with three jars, storage lids, and a straw cap. It's quiet for a blender and well-suited for blending smoothies and protein shakes since it makes a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients quickly. However, it's not extremely versatile, as many other personal blenders are better for preparing crushed ice and recipes like nut butter, including other Beast models like the Beast Health Blender. The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO is an even better choice if you want a truly versatile personal blender, although it's very loud.

Build Quality

It has an excellent build quality. The motor base is made of plastic, but doesn't look or feel cheap. The gears on the motor base and jar are made of metal. The base also has feet that help prevent it from moving around on your counter. It's easy to assemble and disassemble all removable parts and accessories. The jars feel sturdy as well and have a ribbed design that helps with grip. The power/start button on the front of the motor base feels sturdy and clicky, but the on/off switch at the back is a bit wobbly. Overall, its build and design are very similar to other Beast blenders.

The biggest jar has an overall capacity of 785mL and a blending capacity of 600mL. A couple of other jars are included: a smaller personal jar with a 640mL/500mL capacity and a 'Chopping and Grinding' jar with a 415mL/275mL blending capacity. The Beast Mega 1200 can be considered a bigger version of the Beast Mighty 850. It comes with a similar selection of jars, but they all have a slightly bigger capacity.

It's fantastic for processing small batches of fibrous ingredients. It only requires a single one-minute blending cycle to make a nearly perfectly smooth blend. It does a better job of blending the ingredients in a single cycle compared with the Beast Mega 1200, likely in part because of the smaller jar size. However, there are still a few tiny specks left over.

It's outstanding for processing fibrous ingredients at full capacity. You'll need to run a couple of blending cycles for the best results, but it's still a fast and easy process. It makes a basically perfectly smooth puree.

Crushed Ice

Crushed Ice Texture
3.0

It's not a good ice crusher. Even if you use a relatively small batch of four ice cubes and pulse, you must shake and scrape the jar to help it process the ingredients. This works okay for a couple of batches, but if you need more ice after that, the motor heats up, and it starts to struggle to crush the ice.

You can get better results using just three ice cubes at once. It's still not very fast, but makes more uniform crushed ice that way. You can see a video of the process with a smaller batch as well as a photo of the results.

The Beast Mega 1200 and Beast Health Blender are both better ice crushers. This is likely because both have slightly bigger jars and more powerful motors.

Nut Butter

It's decent for making nut butter, but it's a somewhat inconvenient process. You need five blending cycles, but more importantly, it requires quite a bit of shaking and scraping the jar. Since it's a personal blender, scraping requires you to undock the jar and remove the blades, so it's a little annoying. Still, in the end, it makes creamy, spreadable nut butter, although it's a little grainy compared with what some blenders can do, including the Beast Health Blender.

Like most personal blenders, it has one fast blending speed. Its blending speed is faster than the Beast Mega 1200 and Beast Health Blender, which is a little surprising since it's smaller and less powerful. However, its blades are also smaller and have less surface area, and the faster blending speed may help compensate for that.

The controls are very simple and consist of one start/stop button on the front of the motor base and an on/off switch at the back. You can pulse by pressing the start/stop button quickly (for under one second). A longer press (over one second) starts a one-minute blending cycle.

Instead of maintaining a consistent blending speed, it alternates between blending at max speed and slowing down, which is meant to allow ingredients to settle.

7.5
Ease Of Use
Cleaning

It's easy to clean by hand overall. The blades can be removed from the jar and aren't extremely sharp. There aren't any parts that are impossible to reach. However, the jar's ribbed design makes it harder to clean. It's tricky to reach under the blades, so you may need a brush for that. The groove where the jar screws onto the blade assembly is also hard to reach, even with a brush, so if you were working with sticky ingredients, you might need to let it soak first.
