We bought this TV, Sony XBR-75X940E, at Christmas 2017 based on the stellar review on Rtings. We acknowledge that your reviews are well conducted and legitimate. We consider ourselves people that are very discerning with regard to our audio/video equipment.
It is important to your readership to include the service and support a manufacturer provides as critical information when making a choice where to spend our hard earned dollars.
In our case we now have an unwatchable TV that Sony has declared as ‘within spec’ and refuses to do anything to remedy. We have wasted $4000.00. You would do your readership a great service to make them aware of our problem and the fact that Sony has told us to stuff it.
Here is a photo of our TV with the extreme vertical banding, you would have given this TV a very low rating if this one was your review purchase. This is a piece of crap TV, not a highly rated best choice TV!

I have this tv. It’s pretty amazing and the review accurate. The picture you see is not accurate of the actual performance when watching and playing content. I’m a picky guy and familiar with banding- I don’t see that problem when playing content. Oled might be more suited for you.
