Hi
Do you test for uncompressed multichannel PCM audio over eARC? I’ve written up my problem with the Vizio Oled on AVSforum, but basically I want to hook up my PS4 to the TV and pass 7.1 LPCM to my AVR. I do not think the current firmware supports that on the Vizio Oled; or do all eARC TVs only pass stereo PCM and multichannel lossless and lossy bitstreams?
“eARC works great with lossless bitstreams like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. I can pass Atmos from my Xbox One X to my Denon X4400h even though the Xbox is connected to the TV (I wish we could have had this years ago). But it appears that the Vzio can not pass multichannel PCM. When I set my PS4 Pro to Linear 7.1 PCM all I get is stereo PCM on my AVR. I’ve noticed the Vzio also does that when my Fire TV 4K stick sends out Dolby Digital+, but as RTINGS mentioned if you change the Digital Audio out in the Vizio settings from Auto to Digital then it passes DD+ to the AVR without converting it to stereo PCM. So is there a way to do that with uncompressed 5.1/7.1 PCM audio? I’m pretty sure the eARC spec covers uncompressed multichannel PCM. For now I can connect my PS4 directly to the AVR, but I am worried I will have to buy a new AVR once the PS5 is released”
