Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be publicly available information for this update and what it improves, so we can’t say anything about that. We’ll keep an eye out to see if there’s more information available online to see if it improves anything though!
Sooooooo, did it improve anything? Did you find out anything….re-test, etc…?
Unfortunately we haven’t tested it with the new firmware. We are limited with resources right now as we are testing and retesting many products, and unless the update brings a significant update to its performance, it’s unlikely we’ll retest it anytime soon, but that could change in the future. Sorry I don’t really have an answer for you today!
After getting completely pissed off from this screen. I finally sold it. My screen was suffering from green tint. Blue looked purple, red and green were inaccurate too. I compared the image quality with my LG 27UK650, Samsung QN90A(ads panel) and iPad Pro 12.9 M1. I could clearly see the green tint and colours are completely messed up with no accuracy. I don’t know why you guys gave this monitor 9.5 in colours.
Hi. Now in Poland I can buy one of two models: LS32BG850NPXEN, LS32BG850NUXEN. And the last one is about $200 more expensive. Your review includes the LS32BG852NNXGO model. On other sites I found LS32BG850NPXXU, LS32BG850NUXXU and LS32BG852NIXCI. Is there any difference at all in all these models? Or is the difference only in what country it’s sold in? Then why is there such a price difference in Poland? Maybe you can add this information to the article? I think it would be useful. Because I couldn’t find anything on Samsung’s website. On forums people just guess what the difference is. Thank you!

Yes those should be the differences! Generally for Samsung products the full model code does change between regions and even retailers - it’s possible the one you have in Poland is one sale too. Sorry about the confusion though!
I’m surprised this monitor is pushed as “the best” 4K monitor and rated so highly even though the community in general seems to have major issues with the scanlines? Meanwhile the G7 is basicly the same screen that is capped at 165hz but doesn’t have the scanline issue?

You do have a good point, and there are different factors we take into consideration with our recommendations. In this case, the Neo G8 still has benefits over the Neo G7, and the scanline issue only happens at 240Hz with certain content. Other than that, it provides excellent gaming performance.
Hi. My monitor is Neo G8 . I’m using an AMD graphics card with AMD freesync premium pro on, the HDR display is too dark. When I turn off AMD freesync premium pro in OSD, the HDR content becomes normal. Anyone has the same problem? Is it a bug?
Bonjour pouvez-vous récapituler les réglages à effectuer sur l’écran pour avoir la meilleure image avec une ps5.
Cordialement
Hello, can you summarize the settings to make on the screen to have the best image with a PS5.
Sincerely
Salut!

Hello, however you have carried out measurements, you must be able to give the parameters.
The ICC profile cannot be downloaded to a PS5
So bought the Neo G8 and set it up based on your settings. Problem I’m having is that when switching input sources, the OSD keeps resetting the RGB setting to 50-50-50.
Did you encounter this issue? Samsung support couldn’t figure it out. I’m going to return the unit but want to know if I should get a replacement or just another model. I switch inputs for work so it’s a deal breaker.
I have just bought a Odessy Neo G8, it has a thick screen film on it, should this be removed ? it is very thick, I’m sure I read somewhere it should stay on, I unpeeled a little it’s so thick so I left it on.

If this is the protective coating then you can take it off, otherwise if you prefer, then just leave it on.

What are you talking about? You cannot remove anything from a screen on a monitor, unless it is simply packing material like the plastic you remove from a glass side of a case. The screen has no removeable coating and if someone attempts to do so, it will destroy the screen.

Sorry for the confusion - could have worded it better but you should only remove anything if you know it’s a protective film. If not, then removing anything can damage the screen.
Would you recommend this monitor if I mainly work on it (software developer) and playing on the PS5 couple hours a day (mainly warzone)
Hello!
Help with personalized buying advice is something our experts offer only via our insider forums. However, we have lots of self-service tools and recommendation articles that may be helpful!
Does anyone know if the new firmware 1009 has fixed the scanline issues on the Neo G8 or if they are even noticeable on newer models that have come out?
Unfortunately, after the update, the problem was not solved and it got worse for me. It appears when browsing and sometimes in games like Red Dead. Negative points: Screen colors are not good. In addition to the color red. I tried to fix it, but to no avail. Sometimes I feel like they are like cheap monitors. The screen glass is very foggy, as if it is dirty. I will not buy Samsung screens after this experience

Incredible to hear that such an expensive monitor has this kind of low-end-like issues… and its been a good time now since it released.
Hi, can anyone help me with the best settings for the xbox series x? For example adaptive sync on ir off, vrr control stuff like that, this is my first monitor and im really lost

Hey! If you choose to use VRR, which is optional and you only need it if you notice screen tearing while gaming, then you need to set the monitor’s refresh rate to 120Hz. We also don’t suggest using the VRR Control setting as it increases input lag. Besides that, you should use the settings that you find are best!
It has a fairly aggressive matte coating that does an excellent job at reducing glare, as you can see in Reflections, but categorizing it as bad is a subjective opinion, as some people may prefer that.

I dont know if this is known in rtings but I found out the service menu on this. Turn brightness to 0 , contrast to 0 and then hold middle button for 5 seconds. Now you can turn for example ERP for energy saving off or adjust other settings. I dont know how this effects brightness.

Hello, I’m looking to buy this monitor soon is it really worth it? My use case will be productivity and gaming too (story and competitive) ? Or should I go for the cheaper odyssey g7?

Hey, what does the Low Input Lag function do? By definition, turning it off should improve video processing quality, so great for literally everything that is not gaming related. Why wasn’t this tested to see if it does anything or not?

Hey, generally we leave settings at their default unless mentioned, which is why we didn’t test it. While we can’t be for sure on how it performs, we also don’t believe this setting really has an impact on picture quality or the actual input lag.

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 has a flicker-free backlight, which helps reduce eye strain, as long as you have the local dimming enabled. This performs differently from the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 S32BG75, which flickers at low brightness levels.
Could you clarify this please? I wonder if the “as long as you have local dimming enabled” part might be a typo, and it should be “local dimming disabled” instead? As that would then mean it has the same behaviour as the G7… If it’s not a typo, then what behaviour does it have with local dimming turned off?
I recently got a Neo G7, and am put off by the heavy PWM dimming (easily seen on phone camera), the glare, and the curve. If the G8 is actually flicker-free and has a better matte coating, that would solve two of my three complaints. Really tempting if true.
It sounds too good to be true though. I don’t see why the Neo G7 and Neo G8 would have such a difference. They’re such similar models, why would one be flicker-free and the other not?
Given that the Neo G7 is flicker-free with local dimming turned off, but has PWM flicker with local dimming turned on, it seems odd that the Neo G8 would work the opposite way around? Flicker-free with local dimming ON, but flickery with it OFF? That doesn’t seem to make sense, but it’s the impression the review article is giving me from the wording.

Update: Confirmed that 1440p works on this monitor with the PS5.
Hello, I’ve recently found out that there is a firmware update for this monitor. Link to Samsung support download: https://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/FM/202301/20230111095548867/M-B8532GGZA-1006.0.zip

Unfortunately, this firmware update is not available on the manufacturer American website at the moment. We cannot update the monitor until then.
Update: Removed the Real Scene video in Local Dimming because it isn’t part of our regular testing, and it wasn’t processed properly.
