Great article thanks. I’m really happy you’re getting into this space, it’s really difficult to find reliable informations about dehumidifiers and especially about power efficiency.

I’m trying to improve the efficiency of my current dehumidifier and the part about lowering the fan speed caught my eye. I have a question about the power usage when you lowered the fan speed for your tests: For this graph: https://www.rtings.com/assets/pages/qXswNGBH/homelabs-fanspeed-may13-with-outlet-hum-large.jpg?format=auto we can see there is a power spike when you lower the fan speed, and then it slowly decrease. You also said: “When we reduced the fan speed, we noticed a jump in the compressor’s power consumption from 520W to 553W.”

Can you explain why that is ? Why does the compressor’s power consumption jumps when having a lower fan speed, and then slowly decrease ?

On a side note: I’m a bit sad that none of the dehumidiers you reviewed are available in my country (france), not sure why that is.

PS: The dehumidiers reviews and R&D, as well as the ones for air purifiers made me (finally) subscribe to rtings, great work.
