After having a few expensive mechanical keyboards over the years, I am more than pleasantly surprised by this kbs satisfying click and functionality. I now use it as my daily driver. It has replaced all my kbs. I use a separate numpad for when I need it - which is hardly a complaint at all considering 8bitdoโs deliberate design choice.
The build quality is great. It worked out of the box on my ThinkPadโs Linux Mint distro, and is small enough to carry to and from work in my backpack. I like the minimalist retro design and nod to the 80s famicon system.
I wish I knew if there was a way to enable the hiragana characters on the keyboard - if there is, please let me know.
Build quality
Sturdy and robust - 5/5
Tactile feel
Satisfying high profile keys; the keyboard has weight - 5/5
Compatibilty
Out of the box on compatibility for iOS, Windows, and all tested Linux distros (Mint, Ubuntu, Arch, Kali) - 5/5
Sound
High pitched loud, but not noisy - 5/5
Modding
Switching caps is easy and supported. It is difficult to open the main kb chassis however - 4/5
