Update: We’ve added a link to the Dreame L10s Ultra in the ‘Quality Of Life Features’ section of the review to provide an alternative that has an RGB camera sensor for real-time hazard avoidance.
strange, I was familiar with the 5 Ghz but the alphanumeric is weird. Wifi autoconnect is doubly weird, I can’t understand why that would impact it. The mobile data as well is strange unless you mean your phone isn’t connected to the same wifi network as the robot vacuum.
Either way, I understand your frustration but in my eyes, I don’t go to rtings for subjective user experience quirks, just objective performance facts. This is their best one from an objective feature set and performance is all I take away from it. They also naturally have a small sample size so for customer to customer experience can be different and longevity can be an issue. rtings does great work, you just have to know how to interpret their results and use it as a supplement for real world reviews.
You’re right about rtings, I retract what I said about them being misleading by leaving this as their top performer.
I wrote the comment out of frustration of not being able to setup it up and since I used to rtings to make my choice I wanted something to blame.
That doesn’t make what I said false though, the device shouldn’t have these limitations
Thanks for the extensive testing and your work.
Although you have it as the best robot vacuum, I want to leave a note to every buyer out there.
I bought this and I couldn’t make it connect to wi-fi. I would attribute it to my own incompetence but after extensive research, hundreds of links and posts on the internet for troubleshooting the wifi, nothing worked and it seems a lot of people also couldn’t. This applies to all Roborock/Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaners.
If you are buying this with the intent of using the app I’ll tell you right now that it’s a gamble if you can connect it. Not mentioning the initial setup required to have this thing working.
Some things that block you from having wifi on it:
Having a 5ghz wifi network
Having a wifi password that contains non-alphanumeric characters
Having auto reconnect on your phone for wifi
Having mobile data on
Those are a given and you won’t be able to setup wifi if you have any of the above.
Along with that it seems the EU versions are the ones mostly affected by this.
Even if you connect understand that you will waste some hours troubleshooting and adhere to the needs of the firmware of this thing.
In terms of rtings, I don’t know exactly how you can add this to testing. It is incredibly hard to identify these issues without doing a lot of research or actually having the issue but it’s misleading to have this as your top choice product. At least I feel mislead, could just be bad luck but from what I’ve seen online it seems more likely than not that you find these issues.
I returned it on the next day, and will never buy from this brand again, and my recommendation is that you don’t buy it either.
Remember that this is an household appliance at the end of the day, the average Joe with limited knowledge of networking and computers needs to be able to use this, which on encountering an issue, I find it impossible anyone not tech savvy enough would be able to solve.
Not to mention a lot of the troubleshooting involves resetting routers, wifi, passwords etc. Which can amount to hours of wasted time (which is the opposite objective of these vacuum robot apps).

Update: Corrected an error in the ‘Airflow’ section of the review where we referred to the vacuum by the wrong name.
Hi! Could it be possible to separate some of the data under Storing to show with and without the base station? That would help a lot when for example looking for vacuums that are under 16 cm in height, which would exclude this one.
Hi Peat85!
This is actually a very good idea! We are already planning to add this feature in a future TBU.
Thanks for reaching out, don’t hesitate should you have any other suggestions or questions for us!
