Unfortunately, we’re not to sure what you mean by “hotspots”, so it’s hard to say if this is normal or not. If you’re able to provide a picture of video of the issue, that would definitely be more helpful. Otherwise, if you’re worried about a problem with your TV, it might be worth contacting LG for technical support!

HI Dylan and RTINGS. The maximum brightness I can use is actually 51 not 50 but I digress. This is the best I can explain it. It’s like a poop quality TV with no local dimming or minimal. (I know OLEDs don’t have edge lighting or LD Zones just using that to try to convey the issue) .

Image 1 is the screen at 51 Brightness which isn’t enough. Image 2 (I editedit/exaggerated because my camera couldn’t pick up the light) anything above 51 brightness. Again it’s not THAT bright but that’s the discrepancy I see to a lesser extent by eye. It has areas that aren’t black. The pixels shouldn’t be lit at all, it’s a pure black image.

That definitely doesn’t look right. If you’re still within your return window, I would absolutely return it and get a new one. Otherwise, contact LG, because that isn’t expected behaviour!

Ffff.Sshh… Thank you, not thank you. That’s upsetting. I’ll have to see if I am or not.

Edit: out of warranty and 3 States Away is the only service center. Guess I’m screwed/stuck with what I got. It’s just odd that it only happens above 51 brightness (all picture modes and formats). I’d be inclined to say it’s firmware but it’s not uniform which makes me think it’s not. This sucks. Well, thanks for confirming..

Edit 2: Plot twist. I just uploaded a true black #000000 image. This does NOT happen. Any shade where the Pixels are slightly illuminated triggers this.
