I am highly sensitive to motion/judder kind of artefacts. I understand most TVs sold today are 60Hz and certain more expensive models are 120Hz. What I am not clear is how they handle 24 and 25fps content exactly. I am hoping to find a TV that can handle both with no artefact.
My playback is done on a Mac mini using VLC. Iโm planning to replace my current TV, Samsung EH6000 (2012), which is a true 120Hz TV. When connected to my current Samsung TV, my Mac offers me choices of refresh rates of 24, 30, 60Hz (under System Preferences/Displays). I choose 24 when watching both 24 and 25fps contents, which is perfect for 24Hz content but for 25Hz content it skips 1 frame per second as far as my eye can tell.
If I buy a new TV (be it a 60Hz or 120Hz), can it change its refresh rate to 24Hz or 25Hz and offer my Mac 24 and 25Hz choices of refresh rates so I can make the appropriate changes?
