The Levoit Core 600S is a higher-end air purifier intended for larger spaces. It's considerably bigger than other models in Levoit's Core model lineup and uses a more powerful 49W motor. That aside, it does share a similar range of convenience features, with a built-in air quality sensor, smartphone app integration, and support for voice commands made through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant devices. Unlike cheaper Core models, it also features a built-in light sensor that automatically dims its display in dark rooms.

Our Verdict

8.3 Pets

The Levoit Core 600S is great for pet owners. It does a fantastic job of trapping smaller airborne allergens, even in larger rooms, and the activated carbon layer in its filter system can help minimize odors. Its smartphone app integration also lets you control it while you're away from home. That said, it makes quite a bit of noise when running at higher fan speeds, so you might want to keep it away from your pet if they're sensitive to loud noises.

Pros
  • Wide array of convenience features.
  • Excellent overall filtration performance.
  • Companion app integration.
Cons
  • Noisy at higher fan speeds.
  • Bulky form factor.
7.7 Bedroom

The Levoit 600S is good for bedrooms, though it could be considered slightly overkill for small spaces. It boasts fantastic overall filtration performance. The built-in light sensor also automatically turns off the display once you've turned the lights off in your room. While it's quite loud at its highest fan speed, it doesn't make all that much noise in its 'Sleep' mode, though this will hurt performance.

Pros
  • Wide array of convenience features.
  • Excellent overall filtration performance.
  • Built-in light sensor.
  • Companion app integration.
Cons
  • Noisy at higher fan speeds.
  • Bulky form factor.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

This air purifier is available in two color variants: 'Gray' and 'White.' We tested the 'White' model.

Let us know in the comments if you come across another variant of this air purifier.

Compared To Other Air Purifiers

The Levoit 600S is a Wi-Fi-enabled air purifier intended for use in large rooms. It offers excellent overall filtration performance and has a wide range of convenience features that make for a hands-free user experience. That said, this model's very large footprint makes it a bit of a hassle to place, so the smaller, cheaper Levoit Core 400S might be the better option for smaller spaces.

The ring of lights around the power button changes color based on current air quality:

  • Blue: Very good
  • Green: Good
  • Yellow: Moderate
  • Red: Bad

Tapping the 'Display Off' button turns off all of the device's indicator lights and the night light. On that subject, the night light features two levels of brightness. The 600S also has a light sensor, which automatically triggers the Display Off function if it detects that it's been put in a dark room. The device's lights will also automatically illuminate if you turn the lights on in a dark room. However, it's important to note that you have to enable this function through the VeSync smartphone app.

The VeSync companion app also allows you to remotely adjust the device's fan speed, set operating schedules, and send filter replacement reminders. You can also use it to view a real-time estimate of air quality.

This air purifier has a three-stage filter system comprised of a pre-filter for trapping larger airborne particles, a primary filter for dust and mold, and an Activated Carbon filter for minimizing odors. You'll only need to clean the pre-filter with a soft-bristle dusting brush or a vacuum regularly, but make sure not to damage any other parts of the filter system when doing so.

You'll need to replace this filter assembly every six to 12 months, and you can find a replacement here.

I’m interested in the best filtration at low speeds and rarely run at high speeds. Any chance it can be added to your test method? Filter rate at all different speeds of each purifier.

    Hi RtingsUser1666494!

That’s a really good idea that is worth exploring more. When we will revisit these products we will look at adding the filtration rate at different speeds to paint a better picture of the performance of the air purifiers.

Thanks for taking the time to write to us. Have a good day Pierre-Andre

Hey chivolence, were aware of this debate online, there is a case to be made for either order, one being as you mentioned in your comment. On the other hand there is a case to be made for the benefits of having the carbon filter last since its intentional purpose is to filter out VOCs and odours, and not particles which can also increase the longevity of the carbon filter this way as well, however as you mentioned it potentially can introduce carbon particles. As of now were not able to take a position on that debate, because we cannot prove the difference using our current testing method. We appreciate your question, and thank you for reaching out! cheers.

It’s a small detail but I know some have expressed concerns about the filtering order in the filter being Pre-filter > Main Filter > Carbon Filter as the optimal would be Pre-filter > Carbon Filter > Main Filter

Reason being you’d want the largest particulates possible away from the main hepa filter and potentially parts of the carbon filter could make it through the filtering system with it being the last in the order

    What’re RTings thoughts on this?
