Canon EOS R50
Canon EOS R100
The Canon EOS R50 is a better overall camera than the Canon EOS R100. The two cameras are more or less identical in terms of overall dimensions, but the R50 has a touch-sensitive fully articulated display and a much faster max shooting speed (albeit with a similarly small photo buffer). It also uses the newer version of Canon's Dual Pixel autofocus system, which does a better job of tracking subjects when compared to the R100. The R50 is also a much better choice for video work, as it can shoot uncropped 4k video at up to 30 fps and record 10-bit footage in its HDR PQ mode to preserve a wider range of detail on HDR displays.

hey Annie50!
I hope Santa’s kind this year and you get your R50 ;) for the comparisons, are you referring to the sample gallery photos or other photos in the review? our tests are meant to be replicable and comparable, so it would be helpful to know exactly where you feel the comparisons aren’t even.
re: lenses, assuming your old telephoto lens is an EF lens, then yes! you could use it with the R50, but you would indeed need to buy an EF-EOS R mount adapter.
I appreciate these comparisons very much. I’m hoping Santa brings me the R50 over the R100 this year. If for no other reason than the articulating screen. I’m curious tho… some of the comparisons weren’t done at the same time of day or at same angles. The shadowing, distancing and reflections seem to give that away. Makes it a little more difficult to compare on even ground. That said, the details explaining differences is invaluable. I’m an amateur photographer. Used a 35mm for 30 years. I bought a Cannon from Walmart. Almost cost then what the R100 costs now lol! I still have the telephoto from that camera. Can I use that lens on the R50 understanding I may need the RF to EF or vice versa to make it work??
