Can't get 1440p 120hz to work with my Pc and a 2.0 hdmi cable

I have a 75RU9000 and cannot get 1440p 120hz to work with my pc. I know that my pc and the cable support this setting since it worked on my friend’s RU8000. Is there something special to do in order to get this to work? Thanks!
