Is high HDR brightness just as important in bright and dark rooms?

Looking into buying this TV. I always watch TV in a pretty dim, or very dark room. Wondering if I can get away with using this TV in a dark room, and have a gratifying HDR experience. Or if bright or dark rooms even matter for HDR. Thanks for answering my question!
