The 2018 version of the Q7 is compatible with HDR10+.
Do you know of any inklings from Samsung about updating the 2017 models for HDR10+?
(Every time I ask a chat agent, they always respond with turning on HDR+ mode <sigh> )
On PC Mode you have to set sharpness to 10 and contrast to 50 for true 4:4:4. That is what i saw also on other models. Only in PC Mode sharpness 10 is neutral. On all other modes 0 is neutral.
Maybe the game Mode with PC Icon need also 50 Contrast and sharpness 10 but iยดve not tested it because i donยดt play on PC. But on consoles 0 is the way to go (but of coruse everyone can do what he like).
I did the same analysis as you and concluded that the Q70A is the display that has less problems and meets the standards of HDMI 2.1, but sometimes I miss the perfect blacks of more advanced TVs, especially in very dark games. Regarding the sharpness you are right, in PC mode the correct calibration is 10, but in all other modes it is recommended to lower it to 0.
Hey all, sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone, Da-iken is definitely correct. After further investigation from out testers, we can confirm that in PC Mode on the Samsungโs, the โneutralโ sharpness is 10. When our testers looked into it, in order to have proper sharpness in PC mode, it needs to be 10 (which itโs set to automatically). But on consoles and in regular content, you should leave it at 0. So I think the confusion is coming from different use cases. In PC mode, it does default to 10 and should be kept at 10, but in any other mode other than PC, it would default be 0. Weโre currently discussing making any necessary changes to our review to reflect this information as well. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention!
