Hi there, I asked once before but I am a bit confused and have a touch of a changed requirement from my original question a few months ago.
I have thought for my pro photo workflow to get a full editing monitor but I can’t stomach the incredible price tags for 60 hz refresh rate and seemingly no better Delta E values? I understand they are ‘hardware calibrated’ but it does not seem to offer any meaningful benefits?
I mean maybe someone at RTings can elaborate why they are better but I don’t understand when the panels within gaming monitors seem exceptional quite honestly after calibration, and lets be honest they game better.
That background out of the way I still use my Gigabyte M32U which is super color accurate I have it between .35-.40 after calibration and you guys did too but the OLED gets me excited for the colors and blacks as well as a higher refresh rate in the newer OLEDs.
However, I know there are other options too like mini LED but it’s a bit confusing to be honest and I look at this more than most anyone.
I think I have it circled on the Asus PG32UCDM, but the Alienware AW3225 is impressive too. The color accuracy is pretty extraordinary on both. Other option is the LG and Asus monitors that change from 240 4k to 480hz 1080p. Slightly less color accurate though which is admittedly a concern. The last one that has caught my attention a bit is the Asus PG42UQ because the size for showing clients and others the photos could be excellent as long as the color accuracy is good enough - But this monitor seems to be a bit long in the tooth and not available very readily.
This is my long long way of asking about the purple blacks when the ambient light is fairly strong? I get a decent amount of ambient light during the middle of the day and afternoon within my studio and this concerned me a bit and if it is a strong enough concern should I stay away from the PG32UCDM? Should I just steer clear of OLED?
Thanks! Sorry I got long, I’ve found monitors to be really important with editing photos and I want to upgrade but make sure I check every box.
