I love the overall PQ and experience with my TCL R625. They released a firmware update (to allow e-ARC) in the Fall and it seems ever since then I’ve had weird audio issues. Sound lags behind upon starting by 1-2 seconds but then starts and is pretty well in sync. But whether it’s a 5.1 or even Atmos audio it isn’t transmitting the full effect — I have to pause, rewind and play again to get a surround or Atmos (depending on the source) effect. It does this for every app, every time. It also does it whether it’s on auto detect or pass through. Selecting DD+ (which should theoretically allow lossy Atmos) under the audio settings still has the audio delay/catch-up but doesn’t change the soundstage effects with the pause/rewind/play, and for this reason I’m not entirely sure I’m getting the full experience. Again, this seems to have started since the firmware update. TCL support is clueless in helping. I know rtings doesn’t have the 2019 model in office, but I’ve heard possible reports of similar HDMI e-ARC issues on their 2020 (R635) models too. I know it’s not my soundbar, as the problem isn’t recreated when connected with another TV. Has anyone else experienced this? Or found a solution?
