Native 10 bit panel or 8 bit+FRC? + clouding issue

Hi! First of all great page, your articles and ratings already helped me a lot!

I recently bought a Samsung UE55NU8509 (which should be identical to the NU8500?). It was a one time offer so I had to act fast.

I’m pretty irritated by how Samsung doesn’t give any proper technical information - not even the support knows anything besides what’s already written on their product description pages - which seems pretty marketing processed to me.

What I’m still trying to figure out - and besides Samsung not being any help there’s either no specific information (many pages - like your review - only mention 10 bit support), or its contradicting (displayspecifications says native 10 but, others say 8 but + FRC).

So could you please tell me - which it is?

Another small and related question (found contradicting information on that one aswell): is the NU8500 identical to NU8000 besides having a curved panel? Many say it is but e.g. displayspecifications says that that (NU8000) one actually is 8 bit + FRC.

Sorry if I’m supposed to start a new discussion for this topic but: the only thing that’s truly bothering me about this tv (besides missing DTS support which can at least be worked around using a different media player) is some pretty heavy clouding in very dark scenes (especially as the local dimming - I know you’re review earned me of that - is really bad). The whole display looks very uneven in those (and only those) scenes, but the lower left corner is especially bad. Do you have any tip how to help this issue - setting or mechanical wise (preferably without losing my warranty) without just putting the backlight down all the way?

I know this was a lot. I’d really really appreciate an answer! Thank you so much in advance!
