The review says that this TV does not support HDMI 2.1, but the Best Buy page for it says that it does. I don’t see anything on the Vizio site. Here’s the Best Buy link:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/vizio-40-class-v-series-led-4k-uhd-smartcast-tv/6444704.p?skuId=6444704
and here is the text: “3 UHD/HDR enabled HDMI ports. Future-ready HDMI 2.1 connectivity offers the highest audio quality with eARC and Dolby Atmos passthrough and highest video performance from the newest 4K entertainment devices.”
Thanks for any clarification. It’s frustrating that the actual Vizio page is not an adequate source of truth. They leave out so many details and replace them with a lot of marketing fluff.
The only mfg I know who will implement proper calibration is LG and they have a few models https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-43-class-led-1080p-smart-hdtv-with-hdr/6334012.p?skuId=6334012 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-49-class-led-lk5700-series-1080p-smart-hdtv/6265511.p?skuId=6265511
But they are IPS. And input lag is unknown. (Though probably good. I have an input lag tester, but I feel weird about buying a TV to test review it and then have to return it or try to resell it.)
Vizio’s 1080p displays STILL don’t support 4:4:4 properly out of the box. They have great Color/White balance calibration features but the only way to get 4:4:4 out of it, is to modify the signal sent out of a PC slightly out of spec and then the display will properly detect it and display 4:4:4, but then almost all calibration features are disabled. And you can’t calibrate in 4:2:2 mode and then switch back to 4:4:4. As the displays do some awful processing of a 4:4:4 signal sent from a PC, making it look blown out and inaccurate, regardless of RGB level settings.
