Why do they continue to gimp 1080p TVs running Roku OS? No calibration?

This is so infuriating for those of us who still want to get a newer 1080p TV and there are some decent options out there with both IPS and VA panels but a lot of them run Roku OS and that means they purposefully cripple the TV by removing the ability to calibrate it. (And or may not support an easily distinguishable way to set 4:4:4)

You could always yes, connect it to a PC and calibrate it using LUTs and ICC profiles. And then spend hundreds of dollars on a 3DLUT box to put in between the TV and the source. But you shouldnโ€™t have to do that. Calibration in my experience always has the least artifacts and issues when you can get it done on the display end and not the source end.

Is there really no hidden service menus or anything? I know Roku standalone devices have hidden menus you can access with key combinations. Does anything like that work here? Iโ€™ve tried contacting both Roku and some TV manufacturers about this and they basically play hot potato sending you to one or the other.

When they intentionally keep features out of these devices, that really only leaves the projector market, but thatโ€™s a whole different can of worms if you want to get reasonable screen sizes and not huge 100+โ€œ screens.

Also: Does this support displaying 4:4:4 properly from a source like a Blu-Ray Player or a console like the PS4??
