Hi there!
In your review, you say that the Q70R supports audio passthrough. However, I can’t seem to find such an option anywhere in the menu.
Older and newer Samsung models have either a separate menu item “HDMI Input Audio Format” with PCM and Bitstream options, OR a Pass-through option in the “Digital Output Audio Format” menu item. The Q70R doesn’t have the former menu item at all, while in the latter there are only options PCM, DD and DD+.
So how do I turn audio passthrough on?
Thanks!
We don’t know how many zones the other sizes have, unfortunately, and Sony doesn’t provide this information. The number of zones usually doesn’t make a significant difference in the local dimming performance. It can help, but the algorithms that control the zones have a far greater impact on local dimming performance. Even if the 75-inch model has twice as many zones, it’s likely only marginally better.
Thanks for the answer. Anyway, maybe consider this for a future test:
Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to write us with your test suggestion!
It would indeed be interesting to know if an increase in dimming zones on the same TV model in a larger size results in improvements to the picture quality.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of our testing and limited resources, it’s not foreseeable at this moment for us to purchase multiple units of a same TV model to run such a test. However, I added your suggestion to our list that we review for future test bench updates so we can evaluate it further down the line.
Don’t hesitate if you have other suggestions or questions for us!
Best regards
