Samsung’s frustrating picture quality, Sony’s few amount of dimming zones and gaming capabilities, and LGs lack of miniLED TVs make this Hisense TV a breath of fresh air to the LED LCD market.

Their site lists smaller versions, don’t know if it’s a typo or maybe they’ll come out later? 🤷

Does anyone have this TV in their home. I ordered this from Amazon (Shipped and sold by) and still waiting expected delivery date. I have checked endless sites and no consumer seems to physically have one to review.

I spoke to an Amazon supervisor and said I should expect shipping by June 21st and 22nd.

I purchased mine at $4,139 on the first day or so when they pre-sold it and a day latter it jumped to $4,999.

I truly appreciate anyone who has looked at the specs give some input prior to Ritings possibly doing an in-depth review.

DO THE SPECS WARANT A MSRP PRICE OF $5,000?

Best Buys in North Central Texas are shipping. If this set has good processing to go along with the sensational hardware it will be at a new level of performance. Unless the processor can’t keep up with all of those zones!

Safe to say if the U8K has a Pentonic 700, then the UX definitely has one or even a Pentonic 1000.

    Is this 85 inch only?

Weirdly, in Australia there’s a 75 inch version (75UXAU) but apparently peak brightness on the 75 inch is 1500 nits vs 2500 nits on the 85 inch. Does anyone know if the AU model will be inferior to the US model, as was the case with the U8H model etc? I’ve emailed Hisense to ask exactly how the 75" differs from the 85" and how the AU version differs from the US version. I’ll keep you posted.

Strange. I remember someone on AVS forums showing that the Australian 75 inch has inferior specs compared to the 85.

It was very sad for me that my 85UX totally malfunctioned in less than one month! No picture just sound! Had to return it. It was an apparent quality control issue. TV was beautiful and Hissène was very caring about my problem and gave me great customer service to get the TV back to them for evaluation. I would still consider Hisence in the future as I also know of people buying Samsung TV’s and they had to be returned 2 times because of dead on arrival. Looks like it is the luck of the draw these days no matter what TV you might buy.

Why didn’t they replace it for you?

They offered replacement of the 85UX but with no reviews I felt I did not want to take a chance of replacement. Possible quality control had me scared to continue with a replacement. As many people know this was a limited run TV for about 200 plus units. After ritings does its review, I doubt anyone would be able to purchase one because of the limited run. I would still consider Hisence in the future if quality control standards are improved.

So is the QN95C that came in second in the vote with those folks complaining about the fact that it’s a flagship device that might not be purchased for another 60 day vote. If they can’t get either, then we wasted potentially 120 days on voting for things that can’t be purchased. Hopefully they can source the UX.

If they couldn’t get their hands on the UX then they’d simply reject it and make the QN95C win.

Hey all! Just wanted to jump in here and say that we’re still trying to purchase the UX, but availability is an issue. In the meantime though, we’re also going to attempt to purchase the Samsung QN95C as well since we know a lot of users were interested in that model as well!

It’s frustrating because I really wanted to know how it would score with the processing/motion/upscaling. I already know that in person that for 4k sources it looked fantastic and the off angle viewing seemed pretty darn good for an LCD. I need to go back to the store and force them to let me see lower quality content.

Rtings, why is it so hard to get this TV? It’s available where I am, I see its available online at Best Buy for delivery on Tuesday, Digital Trends has one, Value Electronics had it, yet, you still haven’t ordered it.

It’s almost like, they’re located in Canada! For some reason no one cares to ever realize that not every website is located in America, not to mention even where I live in America I can’t even find a UX that’ll ship here, no surprise they can’t seem to locate one in Canada. (Yet again, the forum section of this site is only bringing this place down.)

YES! Thank you!! So happy, now I just have to hope that the early access data is out by the 3rd week of November so I can decide if I will get this or the Sony X95K since those 85" sizes are the best two LCD choices available right now in Mexico.

I really would like to see in the comparisons you post comparison summaries against the Sony x95l, x95k, x93l, Hisense U8K, and TCL QM8. I’m particularly interested in the processing, upscaling, and motion as well as how suitable it is for gaming (input lag, ps5 compatibility, brightness in game mode) as well as reflections and viewing angle.

Also, and I know this is subjective, but other reviewers talk about the 3D dimensionality of some of these other flagship models like with the OLEDs and the X95L where there is greater depth in the picture due to its contrast and clarity. It would be nice to get a feel of this compared to the TVs I mentioned in my first sentence even though it is a subjective measurement.

Finally, I noticed with Consumer Reports that they rank Hisense in general lower than Sony, Samsung and LG with predicted reliability (4/5) and owner satisfaction (3/5), though the data is from 2020-the spring of 2022. I’m wondering whether you feel this should be a concern regardless of the rating of the UX, or if you feel that they have improved as a whole so much over the last year that one shouldn’t be concerned, especially considering the build quality of the UX.

I hope that this being Hisense’s flagship TV and with so many zones that the UXK won’t have the strange PQEOTF tracking and have a local dimming algorithm that prioritizes accuracy over blooming suppression. HGiG of some kind would be welcome too considering using the U8K with the Xbox HDR Calibration settings will falsely clip at like 4000nits.

As an owner I wanted to mention that I typically use the set in Theater Day (adjusted for the right brightness in my living room during the day - I dialed down the brightness a bit), sometimes Theater Night and let the set go to Dolby Vision when that content comes up. Dolby Vision doesn’t seem to have any big issues on this set, compared to some other sets. I was disappointed that Consumer Reports set the mode to Film Maker and then complained about low brightness - that was absurd. Occasionally a UHD scene will seer my eyeballs! As a former OLED fanboy, I was surprised by the micro-contrast and was very happy to see that star fields were well populated with stars of all magnitudes. I’ve been pleased with mine - the issues being some stutter and while the HDMI setup always turns on my Marantz AVR, a few months ago it stopped shutting the AVR off when I turned off the TV. And sometimes sound goes away when switching between inputs (very annoying - however, I also had installed a new HDMI cable sometime around that time so I need to find time to play with that). My wife’s series on Sling look fine, so the upscaling doesn’t seem bad at all. I do wish that it had a premium remote, mine is not even backlit. Overall - I wanted to move up to an 85" set and wanted something with more punch than my LG G3 OLED. I’ve been very pleased. I will be looking forward to your assessment and settings.

This was helpful. Can you be more specific regarding the stutter and the extent of it? With the upscaling, when you say it isn’t bad, how would you compare it against a Samsung or Sony high end TV? How is the motion? How are the reflections?

I will see what I am calling stuttering (occasionally) when, for instance, an actor slowly turns their face. But not every time. And sometimes I will see something on a YouTube video, but when I run to the bedroom to watch the same scene on my 65" Sony QD OLED it also has these issues. So feeds with issues can show up, equally, on both makes. But these are infrequent.

I suspect that with very poor sources (i.e., “ancient”) Sony is better for upscaling - but these are not programs that I watch. But basically it looks fine and enjoyable. Sports look wonderful. Reflections are not an issue and the viewing angle is good.
