This TV’s native output will be 8K 60Hz which gives the sharpest picture but its untested with a true a HDMI 2.1 source.
You can output 4K 120hz with this TV too.
It should be good at least on paper but no-one can say for sure without testing it with a PS5/XSX to see what happens.
Hilarious that it is as-yet untested.
You should be able to fully enjoy 4k @ 120Hz on this TV with the new consoles, but we don’t know for sure. Unfortunately, we don’t have this TV any more, so we can’t retest it with an HDMI 2.1 source.
I was enjoying 4K@120Hz for quite a while, until I sold my 2080. Now I’m stuck with Intel graphics until I can get a 3080. The dangers of being on the bleeding edge.
I have a Q900RB and a PS5. But unfortunately, it doesn’t look the PS5 is 8K-ready out of the box – looks like it will have to come later down the road via a firmware update. In the console’s video settings, 2160p is the highest resolution selectable. And the TV’s input only shows as 2160p 60Hz.
So, from the PS5 end, still no definitive answer to port 4 being HDMI 2.1 …
Sooooooo…I have came up on an issue with my Q900 & PS5 on port 4 …
So the game Dirt 5 has a high framerate mode (120 Hz). Everytime I turned this mode on, the colors go completely wonky: whites/grays/silvers become yellow, the screen becomes darker, and all other colors aren’t what they’re supposed to be. Switch the game back to image quality mode or resolution mode, and everything is fine.
This happens with the official, provided PS5 HDMI cable, as well as my own SecuroMax 8K cable. This happens regardless of what I choose in the PS5 video settings (auto vs. 2160p, hdmi transfer rate RGB vs. YUV420, RGB auto/limited/full, etc.). This happens no matter closing the game, re-opening, rebooting the system, etc.
What’s interesting is that when I look at the input information for the TV (while in this high framerate mode in Dirt 5), it says “1920 x 1080 120 Hz”.
Contrast that, to when I plugged my PS5 into port 3 (eARC) … and the problem goes away!!! Colors are what they should be, bright, and vibrant. The TV input information: “1920 x 1080 120Hz HDR” …
So, it’s as if port 4 (which is what we have always been told is the fully capable HDMI 2.1, 8K, 120 Hz, HDR input) is not equipped to handle 120Hz HDR…? And that port 3 (eARC) can handle 120 Hz HDR (although who knows about it being HDMI 2.1 capable at this point) … Puzzling.
!! I need to check port 3 now !! At least, once I can upgrade beyond the Intel 630 or the Nvidia 1030 I’ve got stuck in my gaming PC for now ..
As a follow-up to my last post … HDMI port 4 is still the way to go for 8k60, 4k120. The issue I ran into above is a bug that falls between Samsung, Sony, and/or Codemasters: https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarcher/2021/12/29/sony-ps5s-best-graphics-mode-hit-by-bug-with-premium-samsung-tvs/?sh=4c437ca875b7
