Hi! Samsung have improved their Smart calibration feature, now making alot of changes to the PQ, 2pt 20pt and Rec709 without graying out the settings at all. Would be nice if you could retest this feature as i think for most people this is the closest to a calibrated tv they will come.
We don’t know how many zones the other sizes have, unfortunately, and Sony doesn’t provide this information. The number of zones usually doesn’t make a significant difference in the local dimming performance. It can help, but the algorithms that control the zones have a far greater impact on local dimming performance. Even if the 75-inch model has twice as many zones, it’s likely only marginally better.
Thanks for the answer. Anyway, maybe consider this for a future test:
Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to write us with your test suggestion!
It would indeed be interesting to know if an increase in dimming zones on the same TV model in a larger size results in improvements to the picture quality.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of our testing and limited resources, it’s not foreseeable at this moment for us to purchase multiple units of a same TV model to run such a test. However, I added your suggestion to our list that we review for future test bench updates so we can evaluate it further down the line.
Don’t hesitate if you have other suggestions or questions for us!
Best regards
