65QN900B Text clarity problems on PC/Mac

I got this TV recently to be used as monitor because I saw in 55QN700B person and I assumed that since this is more expensive model that it can only be better.

One of the things that I can’t resolve is checkerboard pattern, which is resolved on QN700B when VRR is enabled:

With VRR enabled text gets even worse. Notice artifacts/“shadows” behind letters.

I tried both PC (RTX4080 on Win11 and PopOS) and MacOS (M2 Pro). On MacOS I was able to choose HDMI as input type, beside PC (on QN700B it works well only with HDMI as input type) and on Win11 I could pick HDMI but only PC, Game Console and few others.

I tried toggling bunch of others picture settings but nothing really helped here. What was mandatory tho is “Input Signal Plus” enabled and Game Mode to On.

Something messes up with rendering grey color as soon as I turn on VRR:

Also, Without VRR, even tho text is much clearer, there are shadows appearing as you move few degrees off of center to a side, and then it becomes very sharp when you move to 60 to 70 degrees to side. I’m hoping that this isn’t because of different “better” “Ultra high viewing angle” feature?

Is there any setting I missed? Is there anything I could tweak from service menu here?

I am using HDMI 2.1 cable and tested with same cable on QN700B and QN900B

Thank you!

Stay the hell away from the Dell U3223QE monitor! I’m on my second piece of garbage unit because the first one had HDR that was absolutely trash right out of the box. Now, the replacement they sent after 1 painful month dealing with their crappy support has crapped out too.

Here’s the crap fest I’ve been dealing with:

    1. First Monitor: Straight from the store, HDR is fucked. The ‘Movie’ and ‘Game’ preset modes turned it into an 8-color joke.
    2. Replacement Hell: Took over a month just to get someone to understand the problem, thanks to their damn AI chatbots and useless support team in India.
    3. Second Monitor Fails: After 3 months, the second unit goes totally black. Power LED is on, but the screen is dead.

It’s been 16 days since I requested another warranty service, and they haven’t even picked up the defective unit. Every day it’s the same bullshit: “We have raised an escalation and rapid actions are in progress.” Absolute garbage! The support? Absolute worst. Endless loops of “I understand your concern” and “Apologies for the delay” from their AI bots and some guy named Shubham who’s apparently a supervisor but can’t do shit to fix anything.

This monitor is a piece of trash. Dell’s support is garbage. The internet is full of similar horror stories about this model. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. This shit isn’t worth the headache. Avoid at all costs!
