So I just bought the M55 today from Costco, I last TV is a Sony (x700d) and it was a fine experience (yes a bit sluggish android but no complaint other then that) so I would assume other brand TV might be the same, but no.

First and most important, it has no way to opt out ACR now. I tried searching online and the guide told me to go to Setting -> Reset & Admin and turn off ACR, to my surprise, the option is gone, and no where to be find. (It wasn’t relocated or rename, compare to Sony, the setting option is so limited on Vizio m55.)

And second, They are trying to sell you to use “smartcast” and their new addition “watchfree”, so they decide to put those in your Input list. And I never use to smart function so I figure I should just disable it. But no, those cannot be disable, nor removing it from input menu!

and here we go searching online again, and find out some people already posted the same concern on forums. apparently when they first announce “watch free” in Sept you can omit it from the list like other physical input, but somehow in Oct/Nov they decide to just force it on your input list forever and disable the hiding function for “watch free” and “smart cast”. So now every time I switch my input I need to see those unwanted item blocking my selection. That is just outrageous.

So yesterday is ARC, today is “watchfree”,… what is it going to be tomorrow? I don’t want to find out, I don’t want to be stuck with something like that.

I will not trust anything from Vizio again.

I am going to return the TV tomorrow, luckily I bought it from Costco and god bless their 90 days return period.
