Smooth transition between shades in HDR

When watching HDR videos from YouTube (for example, https://youtu.be/72_rYwzLhjk) there is a feature of Standard and Movie modes: when sunset (0:11) is displayed, the transition between shades in standard mode is smoother and looks better. Is it possible to somehow transfer this effect to Movie mode?
