Got this monitor to replace a 10 year old Dell S2716DGR. This Acer I had to return because in order for the colors to be as saturated and for the white to be as white, I had to turn up the brightness to HDR and full, and then it was so bright it hurt my eyes in a dark room. That wasn’t the worst part, I do normally walk around the room with the computer on, and this monitor showed so much blooming and color changes that it was terrible to look at. Then my specific panel maybe had a slight issue where a full screen white image appeared warmer towards the bottom vs. the top. When gaming the view towards the bottom of the screen was more saturated and better contrast but at the top was washed out, if I moved my head up and down this helped so it’s almost as if the viewing angles are so bad you can’t see the whole screen as one image. The way the legs stretched out wasn’t the best, and the build does feel quite cheap.
I’ve now purchased a Dell AW2725Q and the difference is night and day. This monitor actually makes it worth it to upgrade. I don’t know about an EQ curve, and I don’t need 4.4.4 over HDMI 2.1 if I stick to 4k 120hz which is plenty. Text is still amazing and it’s made even easier to read by the clean white at 75% brightness. Can’t say enough how different and amazing this is compared to the Acer. Even straight on this is worlds above, for what $200 more? At the scale of $700 vs $900 I can’t suggest the Dell more. And if ur graphics card can keep a game stable and mark the refresh rate to 120hz you won’t worry about VRR flicker. Also the Dell is GSYNC Compatible vs just GSYNC, so with VSYNC turned off and GSYNC on Compatible, the flicker isn’t really there.
I wish I still had all three to show. I was unsettled about the Acer, but this Dell is feeling just right. My partner just walked in and said, “Oh… I like this monitor a lot more” so… there you go.
I should add, the bezels are smaller on my older Dell than either new one. Which is pretty interesting.
