Hi all, I live in Sweden. I am able run The TV in 8K 30Hz HDMI Nvidia 2080Ti limits to 30Hz due HDMI 2.0b. If run Youtube 8K videos are breathtaking PQ, and Windows runs very well in 8K resolution. And upscaling quality with Nvidia 2080Ti on 4K videos also works very well. 4K videos look ok, but 8K IS THE FUTURE! Even my LG 65’ C8 now looks ok with 4K Netflix shows with Apple TV 4K. But the picture is sharper on The SM9900 Europe model. You Don’t need The external box, for this. I have The upgrade box, but I have no 8K videofiles. Regards Roger
Hi Roger, thank you for your post. Using the external box are you able to get 8k/60 Hz from your 2080Ti if you reduce to 4:2:0 ? Thanks Regards Mike

According to LG, the external box is required for both 8k files from USB and an 8k image over HDMI. This is in line with our testing, as we weren’t able to get it to display an 8k signal over HDMI, even when sent from our RTX2070. We ordered the box, but as our lab is currently closed, we’re unable to retest it at this time. We’ll update the review as soon as we can.
