Hi there Bob, that’s a good question. The UQ8000 will be an upgrade in some ways, mainly in terms of the viewing angle and color accuracy. Modern LCD displays like this produce much better colors than older DLP sets. You’ll also notice that the image is much sharper thanks to the higher native resolution of the screen. That being said, we generally don’t recommend the UQ8000, as it has a very low contrast ratio, so blacks appear gray in a dark room and dark scenes don’t look very good. I don’t know what your budget is, but something like the 85" Sony X91J would be a much better choice for around the same price.
