I love what you all are doing. One area where Rtings can improve is its data for Xbox and PS5 is to show VRR compatibility on a resolution basis like it does for refresh rates. What is important for me to know specifically about this monitor is does it support VRR on while operating at 1440p@120hz? I bought the LG 27gl83a with the thought it would be capable of doing 1440p@120 with VRR on but found it does not. Unfortunately I couldn’t tell this from the monitor comparison table. Thanks
Apologies for the confusion regarding the 27GL83A. VRR and HDR compatibility for the consoles is quite complex, and right now our results aren’t as comprehensive and user-friendly as we’d like. Your suggestion is great! We’re working hard on developing a new, structured way to present VRR/HDR compatibility for each resolution (1440p included!) that’ll also be visible in the comparison table. You’ll be happy to hear this is part of our next Test Bench update! We don’t have an exact publishing date yet, but it’s coming.
If you have any more feedback, we’d love to hear it! We’re always looking for ways to improve our testing.
Wow thank you Eric for the quick reply and taking note of my feedback.
Would it be possible to for you to find out if the Gigabyte G27Q does support 1440p @ 120hz with VRR on for the Xbox Series X? If not I understand but I at least wanted to ask because I cannot find this information anywhere on the internet.
Eric, I ended up buying this monitor and can also confirm 1440p @120hz with VRR on. This is definitely my pick for the best value monitor for the Xbox series x. Especially if you like playing FPS games like Warzone. Thank you again for the help!

Update: Added that the HP OMEN 27q has better Color Accuracy before calibration and a more customizable sRGB mode.
Hello I just wanted to confirm something as I am seeing differing information online. I am reading product specs for this monitor that state it has 500+ local dimming areas and other reviews say the HDR performance is good. But your review says it lacks local dimming. Is this a review of an older version?

That’s interesting, is it possible you’re seeing information for another monitor? This is really an entry-level monitor that doesn’t have local dimming, as expected with most budget-friendly displays.
Hello, can you clarify the setting used for Xbox Series X?
I’ve just bought this monitor, and the Xbox shows that the monitor does not support HDR. I can activate for 1440p with 120Hz and VRR, but the HDR option is never available.
I was actually looking for this monitor (sub $300 range) since this is probably the highest rated overall monitor for the price. What would be another great monitor for the price point? Looking for at least 1440 at 120hz

NeoDren, just confirmed with the display team that Xbox 1440p @ 120Hz with VRR does indeed work for the G27Q!
Update: Added that the newer Gigabyte M27Q P has a faster Response Time at its max refresh rate.
You are incredible! Thank you so much for this feedback!
Update: Updated text for accuracy with Test Bench 1.2, including with Response Time.

May I ask why you set the brightness to 11 in the Color Accuracy (Post-Calibration) setting?
This is because we aim for a brightness of 100 nits during calibration, so we need a dim screen :)
Thank you for you reply :)
