Does the TCL Q6 (Google TV) support Airplay? My Sony (Google TV) does support Airplay. On the Sony, if you click the Input button and scroll along the bottom of the menu that is displayed on the TV, you see the Airplay icon.
On the Best Buy website, I saw an 8 month old response from TCL that said that the Q6 did NOT support Airplay. I also say a 4 month old response from TCL that said that the Q5 does support Airplay. It makes no sense that the cheaper Q5 supports it but the Q6 doesn’t. Maybe the Q6 does now do to a software update. I don’t know what to believe.
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. But, motion interpolation is much more important to me than upscaling. I use motion interpolation to fix stutter in different situations, and I like SOE. I had a U7G and was very unhappy with the motion interpolation and so I returned it. If you have any words of wisdom on motion interpolation between the r646 or X90j, that would be great. Thanks again.
Thank you very much for taking the time to make that table. That is very kind or you! It is my fault for not specifying that I am afraid of buying OLEDs. I wish I had, because I wished the table started at the next tier down.
About a month ago, I actually did decide to buy a Samsung Q80T (which is in your table) but there weren’t any more around.
Based on your assume reviews, the Sony X90J or the TCL R635 may work for me. The BFI and Motion Interpolation pictures that your site posted for the TCL R636 like amazing. I was going to buy a TCL R635 last December but they weren’t available. Now, that same TV is $200 or $300 more.
I can wait until you review the newer TCL R646. It will probably be down to that or the Sony X90J. My guess is that the Sony may be more reliable in the long run and you can get one in the US with a 5 year warranty or more from Costco.
I was wondering if you watch sports on these TVs while testing. I am a big hockey fan and that’s probably an acid test for motion and screen uniformity.
I have the U7G 75 inch Model, how would I go about finding out if it’s an IPS or VA panel?
I spent some time in BB last night. I asked the salesperson to show me an IPS and a VA. When I got 60 degrees off center, the colors washed out. The 65" Sony X80j (IPS) didn’t get washed out. The 75" Hisense U6G didn’t get washed out. The 85" Sony X85j and the 65" Sony X90j did get washed out. It seemed like it was easier to tell when viewing a video clip from a thumb drive as opposed to what’s pumped into the TVs by the store. What’s interesting to me (the untrained eye) is that all 3 Sonys looked good. In fact, I had a hard time figuring out why the X90j had a better picture than the X85j. Also, I am guessing that it might be easier to tell in a darker room. It’s tough to evaluate a TV in such bright light. I wish my local BB had a U8G and a U7G to look at.
Yesterday, I placed an order for a 75" U7G, in the US, under the assumption that it is a VA panel. I just called the 888 service number and the representative could not find the answer! I have seen conflicting reports on the Internet. I think it’s best that I cancel my order and wait for the review on the upcoming r646. It’s hard to believe that a company that makes TVs can’t tell you which type it is.
Thank you sir. I am leaning towards the U8G. I do use some motion interpolation on my 7 year old LG 6950 (wish I knew its response time) from time to time. Sometimes I like it. Judging on from the to pictures for motion interpolation using your great compare tool, it looks like the U8G may do a slightly better job than the U7G. Does one TV do a better job than the other? Thanks again!
Edited 3 years ago: I forgot to ask a follow up question.
