If you take out the trays of this air fryer, you’ll see that the inside is plastic with a warning (heat) on the bottom.
My question is why this isn’t mentioned. A lot of people are complaining about a chemical smell coming from their ninja air fryer even after using it months. Inhaling plastic is dangerous and I wouldn’t recommend air fryers that heat up plastic. I have returned this device for this reason.

Hi there, thanks for reading. Most air fryers with some plastic components have a similar warning, since it’s required when plastic gets heated up. It’s also quite typical for air fryers from any brand to have a smell the first few times you use them, but we didn’t have the same issue with the Ninja still having a smell after months. I’m sorry this product didn’t work for you. I understand some may want to avoid air fryers that heat up plastic entirely. For the moment we haven’t tested any air fryers without plastic, but there are some stainless steel and glass models on the market.

Google “Best non-toxic air fryers 2024 – stainless steel and ceramic alternatives”
Your description is incorrect. You mention that the nonstick coating on the cooking tray and cooking chamber surfaces is ceramic. The manufacturer website says: “The baskets are made of aluminum with a PTFE nonstick coating. The crisper plate has a PTFE-free ceramic nonstick coating.”

Naturally, everything sticks to metals when cooking

Hi deepgroove,
That’s a great catch - sorry we missed that. I’ve updated the description on the nonstick coating type to be specific to the cooking tray. The same applies to the Ninja DZ071, SL201, DZ401 and DZ201.
Thank you!
Tristan
