Hi, so I really like this kb but Iโm not convinced about the latency. 11ms is not bad but does it have a true 1000Hz polling rate? And if anyone has used this keyboard for competitive games like league of legends, does it fall behind the usual gaming boards by a lot?
Hey Nachiket,
Great question.
First off, we can confirm that the Keychron Q1 Pro does have a true 1000Hz polling rate.
In this image, in the third column from the left, you can see the timings of the raw USB packets sent. Many are sent at 1ms intervals, indicating a 1000Hz update rate.
For competitive gaming, we typically recommend keyboards at or below ~10 ms single-key latency, but as you said the Keychron Q1 Pro comes very close. At the end of the day, you wonโt be able to physically notice any latency difference between this keyboard or one with a lower measurement. However, if itโs still something youโre still concerned about, Iโd suggest checking out the Keychron Q1 Max instead (You can see our review of the Keychron Q5 Max, and it has information about all the other size variants in the series, including the Keychron Q1 Max.
The Keychron Q Max keyboards are slightly newer versions of the Q Pro models, with added wireless connectivity and upgraded internals, allowing them to achieve lower latencies more reliably.
The Q1 Max is typically just a bit more expensive than the Q1 Pro (around $10 more, depending on your location), making it a great alternative to consider.
