If you're interested in an air fryer but don't have room for another dedicated appliance, consider an air fryer toaster oven. These toaster ovens are equipped with an air fry feature but can also work as toasters and help with anything you'd do in a regular oven, like baking or broiling.
However, not every toaster oven with an air fry feature is a good option for quickly making crispy food. Overall, air fryer toaster ovens don't perform as well as basket-style air fryers. These units air fry less evenly and more slowly. However, if you choose the right model, you can do your air frying in a toaster oven with good results.
Below are our recommendations for the best air fryer toaster ovens. You can also check out the best basket-style air fryers. If you want to know more about the difference between basket-style and oven-style air fryers, check out our investigation.

The best combo air fryer/toaster oven we've tested is the Cuisinart Air Fryer TOA-70. This medium-sized toaster oven can accommodate a 12" pizza or six slices of bread. Using its 'Air Fry' function and mesh air frying basket, it quickly air fries foods like French fries and chicken wings, leaving most of each batch crispy and golden brown. A smaller portion is left undercooked, so it doesn't air fry completely evenly, but overall, its performance is very good for an oven-style air fryer.
Otherwise, it's a decently versatile option with some unique features. For example, the 'Grill' function heats food only from the bottom, which is handy for options like burgers, salmon, and asparagus. While it lacks a preheat reminder, it heats up quickly, and it's also a good option for reheating leftovers. While you can use it with or without convection for baking, it doesn't maintain a stable temperature during cooking, so it's not the best option for this use, as this can lead to your food burning or drying out before being cooked. As for toasting performance, while it can handle six slices of bread at once, it makes much more evenly browned toast four slices at a time.
If you need a lot of capacity to air fry for the whole family, the best big air fryer toaster oven we've tested is the Breville the Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro BOV900BSS. This large-capacity toaster oven can fit nine slices of bread or cookware like a 9" x 13" baking pan, so it's suitable for big batches and full meals. It doesn't quite match the Cuisinart Air Fryer TOA-70's air fry performance since it's significantly slower, but it produces similarly even air-fried food. Its mesh air frying basket is also bigger, so you can air fry more food at once.
Otherwise, it's a versatile option with many different functions and features. It has four different rack positions and various modes, including 'Dehydrate' and 'Slow Cook.' While it doesn't maintain that stable a temperature during cooking, it's still a decent choice for baking something like a pizza or a batch of cookies. However, as a bigger oven, it preheats slowly. It's not the best choice for toasting bread, either. It makes the most even toast with just four slices in the chamber and is very slow.
The best air fryer/toaster oven combo we've tested with a compact design is the Ninja Flip SP151. This toaster oven has a space-saving trick: you can flip the oven backward when not in use, allowing you to store it out of the way and giving it a much smaller countertop footprint. This oven has a short cooking chamber, so it may not fit a cake or a loaf of bread, but its mesh air fry basket is around the same size as that of the Cuisinart Air Fryer TOA-70. It air fries a little less evenly, but it still produces mostly crispy Brussels sprouts or chicken wings quickly.
Otherwise, it offers a good multi-purpose performance. It maintains a stable temperature during cooking, which helps you get consistent results when baking or roasting. You can use it to toast six slices of bread pretty quickly, so it's a good option for brunch or a big family breakfast, when you need a lot of toast fast. However, the cooking chamber's smaller dimensions make it harder to clean by hand than the other picks here, especially since it doesn't have a non-stick coating.
The Cuisinart Digital Air Fryer CTOA-130PC3 is an air fryer toaster oven with versatile overall performance. It's much more expensive than the Cuisinart Air Fryer TOA-70 and has a slightly worse air-frying performance. However, it maintains a much more stable temperature during cooking, making it a better option for baking cookies or roasting a chicken.
See our reviewThe Ninja Foodi DT201 is a big toaster oven with about the same capacity as the Breville the Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro BOV900BSS. It takes longer to air fry food and produces less even results, but it still offers good performance for that purpose and is much cheaper. It can also toast up to nine slices of bread more quickly.
