The Smeg 4-Slice Toaster is a high-end toaster that comes in various glossy colors and has a retro look. Its two long slots can fit a couple of pieces of sandwich bread side by side, but you must operate both slots simultaneously on the same setting. The slots are wide and deep enough for big slices, and it has dedicated settings for bagels and frozen items like waffles.
It's a good toaster. The six settings provide a good range of doneness, and it doesn't start burning the bread after multiple batches. However, if you like very well-toasted bread or are thawing and toasting something like frozen waffles, the highest setting may not be enough, so you'll have to toast it for a little longer. It also leaves raw corners, especially in certain slots.
It comes in various colors and designs, including black, cream, red, pink, white, and 'Sicily is my Love', a Dolce & Gabbana-branded pattern. We tested it in red; see our unit's label here.
The brand also makes the Smeg 2-Slice Toaster, which has a similar design and shorter slots. We've tested that model separately. They also make a 4-slot toaster, which we haven't tested and may perform differently.

The Smeg 4-Slice Toaster is a high-end toaster with a glossy, premium look. It has long slots to accommodate longer slices of bread or two pieces side by side. It has a good toasting performance overall, but even its highest setting won't char white sandwich bread, so if your bread takes longer to toast, you'll probably have to push it down again.

Aside from bagel and frozen settings, it includes a 'reheat' setting, which is selectable with the dial. It's a shorter cycle meant for reheating toast or adding some time to the end of a cycle if you want darker toast.
