65inch C9 owner here. I tried the same scene streamed from Apple TV 4K (HDMI 2.0a) in Dolby Vision with factory ‘Home Cinema’ setting and there was no flashing at all. Assuming they have the same panel on CX as C9 (which honestly i doubt…my speculation is that LG has changed something about their production process) this should not be a panel issue and must be related to something else. I would recommend trying to record the TV using your phones’ slo-mo video camera. Also, keep in mind the darkness in that scene is most likely “near-black” and not perfectly black. It could be worth trying to run a few grey screen gamuts close to black (like 1% grey) to see if the same thing happens there. Dark screen flashes were very much a thing in the past but they usually happened with heavily compressed content and i am assuming all the comments are from people who pay for the fancy version of Netflix subscription. Either way, hope you guys can figure it out but I wanted to share my results in case it helps

As mentioned, on my iPhone the scene was flashing too so its not LGs fault. In may be Netflix because u was watching it from Apple TV.

I think its just a fault on the scene. I just watched your 20:30 mark of that scene on my iPhone and its flickering aswell. My iPhone does have an OLED screen though.

so somehow 120hz VRR lag is atm worse than 120hz no-VRR lag ok …

Lol i know right. Whats the point of VRR if it gives more lagg. Must be bugged.

The lagg is barely noticable. These are milliseconds.

No, those were already announced late 2019. Just launched in 2020.

MCH Dolby 7.1 is available with passthrough. Ive noticed this when i changed Audio out on the CX to passthrough.

It is enough matematically but practically is of no use since you can’t send a 10bit signal on NVIDIA (only 8 or 12bit) consumer GPU’s, you need the full 48gbps bandwidth for HDR 4K120 12bit gaming on these sets The only reason for that is the lack of HDMI 2.1 sources, but the panels are capable of 4K120 40-120 VRR as stated multiple times by LG But you CAN get Freesync, you CANT get 48gbps bandwidth as it’s a hardware issue Nope, CX/BX is a downgrade in all areas except for 120Hz BFI

So many false arguments. First, LG and Nvidia confirmed on their website, VRR on C9 ONLY supports 40-60hz in 4K, no more no less. Accept it.

Many reviewers and Rtings did tests if Freesync was available for use on C9. But its just not possible. Check the website for detailed info.

As of the 48gbp, even if Nvidia only accepts 8 or 10bit(wich it does not). 12 bit will be downscaled because the panel cant display 12bit content. Its irrelevant.

So in a nutshell: C9 lower VRR range in 4K, confirmed by LG and Nvidia. C9 lower BFI of 60hz C9 no confirmed Freesync from LG. Tests have been done but impossible. So yeah. CX is still the better TV.

C9 VRR range is 40-60hz in 4K (check Nvidia website) CX VRR range is 40-120hz in 4K. C9 60hz BFI. CX 120hz BFI. C9 no Freesync confirmation. CX does have Freesync confirmation in firmware update.

48GBPS is important as there is no way to output 10bit RGB in Nvidia consumer GPUs, so CX would be limited to 4K120 444 8bit while C9 can receive the full 4K120 444 12bit HDR C9 VRR range is also 40-120Hz as stated in Nvidia’s page Theres a workaround to enable Freesync in the C9 so I think it’s the better buy

Nope. 40gbp is enough for 4k 4:4:4 120hz. 48gbp is enough for 12bit content wich is irrelevant on our 10bit panels.

Also c9 vrr range is only 40-60hz in 4K, says the Nvidia website.Yes it has 40-120hz range but thats ONLY in 1440p. CX VRR is 40-120hz in 4K. So CX is better.

Also no confirmation of Freesync for C9. CX does have a confirmation.

CX is still the better tv to buy.

Freesync would also be useful for the new consoles being released depending on the tier the tv will receive as Freesync premium supports LFC. Also per nvidia’s website the C9 can only support a refresh rate of 40hz-60hz @4k, while computer and the new consoles support 4k@120hz https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/g-sync-compatible-2019-lg-tv-available-now/

Yeah the website does say only 40-60hz in 4K.

No vertical banding on mine. Have the CX for a month now. Maybe u just got unlucky with the panel lottery.

Exactly, its no bug. Samsung, Sonos and now LG removed it from their 2020 model TVs and Soundbars. There must be a reason why manufacturers are removing it.

Yes, 48gbp is irrelevant. Same as 8K TVs, those are all 10bit panels too while true 8K is 12bit.

CX. There is no info on the hdmi VRR range of C9. Also no Freesync for C9. CX vrr range is 40 to 120hz. Higher numbers doesnt mean that its better, 48gbp on C9, 40 on CX. Both 10 bit panels, Sony 8K TV also 10 bit panel, true 8K is 12 bit. Does it makes sense? No. So you are good with CX.

Only the TV itself wont decode it. Unless u have a receiver who supports DTS you are good to go. Samsung and Sonos removed DTS aswell, its because Dolby is going to be the standard on Hifi and TVs

Nope, exact same panels as A9H and other 2020 models. Go watch Sparechange his latest CX vs A8H live review. 48gbp is useless and it was a smart move, just not the best way of telling us. Like the 8K Sony master series are not worth because the panels are 10bit, true 8K is atleast 12bit. People just want a TV with the highest numbers etc. Thats really dumb.

C9 will not get Freesync. Unless u have a official confirmation link from LG, im happy to read.

C9 owners need stop praising the C9 with false facts like ‘Freesync in firmware update’. LG did not confirm this, so it will not get Freesync.Only CX got confirmed for that. Is it so hard to accept?
